Are prices going to be trending down in the coming weeks and if so, how do I go test ride and buy one while remaining "Sheltered in Place"?

Remember 2008 and the few years after that? We are heading there I believe but not in the next few weeks. Give it a few months. The car dealer my wife works for told the sales department to kick rocks

I recently heard someone saying they're not sure HD will live thru this. Not an unreasonable thought for a company that hasnt changed their model line up...ever. Yea, i know they have an electric bike and i think a new standard bike. Too little change to make a difference as i see it.

The last recession nearly killed the moto industry. Recovery was weak. This time the industry is is starting on weak footing, whereas last time the industry was thriving going into the economic downturn. The list of moto related businesses that didnt make it last time is long, i was one of them. Although for me it wasnt the economy that killed us, it was the caustic City of SF that put us and many other out.

I could easily see no new models from ANY manufacturer for 2 or 3 years. Watch for factory race sponsorship to disappear like last time too.

HD is hiring for their Mt. View LiveWire lab. I talked to a recruiter, but they are looking for someone more junior or someone to pay less than what I already make. Benefits were a little bare boned, but it could be a option for someone here.

Both the Bronx nekkid bike and the Pan America adventure bike were due this fall.

That seems like a pretty big shift for them. Big enough for me to want to take test rides.

Don't have a clue what my motorcycling needs will be then. Will I have a commute? A job? Time to ride places? People to visit there?

I doubt I'm alone in the uncertainty.

FUD Fear Uncertainty and Doubt.... its going to be an interesting 180 days with FUD leading the way. I'm just going to keep my head down, do everything i can help my clients have what the want, eat healthy, get outside occasionally, and try not to watch the news too much. I also just got a zoom account so I can have some form of face to face communication with friends and family.

Having said all that, I'm looking forward to a buyers market on used motorcycles pretty quickly here.

I'm sure with the number of people with jobs lost/suspended there will be lots of deals to be had in the used market. Be it motorcycles, guns, boats, fun cars, etc.

A friend sent me a CL link to a bike I want at a very good price. I'm torn between holding off on any major expenditures right now, travelling to Concord to get the bike as that would be non-essential travel or waiting for this whole thing to blow over.

I spoke to a Motorcycle Sales Manager yesterday. He said they are selling bikes but there are no test rides. He basically tells you what it costs and slides the paperwork to you and steps away. You fill it out, pickup the bike and leave. No pressure. No back and forth. Buy it or not. There is no time for BS.

If you get it, you might want to tow it in an enclosed trailer... but you should "wait" for all this crap to blow over. :darkangel
