Track tire recommendation

Hey Racer X's

I need recommendation for track day tires for a big ole couch 2017 R1200 GS Adventure I am going to track(ThunderHill) . Why? Because I can.


Currently running Anakee 3 which stick great on pavement I know will do well on the track. Anyone with experience running a big bike on the track. I am limited on my tire selection. I heard good things about Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2
* front 120/70/R19
* rear 170/60/17

When I tracked my V Strom 1000 years ago, the Pirelli Scorpion was the best track tire of all available then. I would think the new version would be just as good or better.

Might as well just throw some slicks on there, ask Cory Call..

I use the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 tires on my Tiger, but I don't track it. I know I drag hard parts ln the twisties and i've never had a grip issue with the tires.

I was going to suggest talking to Cory, he's been ripping his GSA around the track this year.

Who makes slicks for a 19" rim?

Corey runs Dunlop Road smart 3's.
Occasionaly he will run a slick rear with the RS3 front

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like Dunlop Road Smart 3's are cheaper than Anakee 3 and Pirelli Scorpion Trail. This is specifically for track I am sure Cory scooting his GSA alot faster than I would at least on first track day :ride:rofl

I went with the Dunlop trialsmart on my 16 GSA. I did 2 days at Laguna with them and they were flawless. Knee dragging and all.
