Too late for AppleCare

I bought an iPhone 6 a couple months ago and meant to add on the apple care when my checking account recovered. Apparently you can't buy apple care for a phone 60 days after the date of purchase unlike for a computer where you get a year to make up your mind.
Anyone know of a way around this with apple? I mostly wanted the apple care for the tech support.

Just out of curiosity, why is access to tech support a need after 2 months in? I'd think that on a phone, any kinks and setup would be done by that point.
