To the people in the keigwins motorhome.

Been around the block
Had a guy want to fight me because I politely asked him to move his car because he finished pumping gas an was playing on his phone with a line of people waiting to use the pump. This was a guy in a nice Lexus with gel in his hair with his mom, wife and daughter there. :flag

I was in line at the Costco gas station earlier this week (in my truck coming from working on a friend's car). There's a gap in the middle (of 3) pumps and the older fellow who's next in line can't get to it. He tries a couple times. There's cars behind him in line too and I think everyone was just being cool about it.

Except for this dude in a Subaru. He comes blasting in around everyone in line. He was really obvious about it. Hops out to pump gas.

Lot attendant bee-lines for him. There's some sort of tense discussion. Lot attendant takes his costco card and walks away. Guy is just left standing at the pump with no way to get gas. He sat there for a long while just moping around his filler door and the pump. Way longer than it would have taken to get gas. Eventually he leaves.

I enjoyed the justice.

..Costco...

Justice served by a Costco attendant. I love it!

ahhh the Keigwins instructor butthurt is strong in this thread... cant say i'm surprised ... and i wasnt gonna 'get all into it' , but here we go

dunno bruh, all the fancy logoed RVs and trailers that *i suppose not all, but many* keigwins instructors have, sexy new bikes, sexy matching gear - someone is paying for all that - kinda puts off the 'we are rich' vibe... not to mention the couple times i've asked for a lead/follow from a Keigwins instructor, they seem disappointed that they actually have to do something extra (because a customer asked), like it really took the wind outta their sails - i'm not the only one who has experienced this.. not to mention i've simply asked a quick question for advice off track and been straight up blown off by a couple Keigwins instructors - i guess they were too cool and too racer fast to waste their time with a scrub like myself. not saying this hasnt happened with other providers, but the Keigwins crew it just seems different. way different; and in an elitist 'we are better than you' kinda not-good-way... its a vibe that i ONLY seem to get from Keigwins, and no other provider, not by a long shot - and I ride with all of them. maybe its just my perception, as a guy who rides used tyres and can barely afford trackdays, so the money and the vibe from it might effect me differently than a better off financially customer

yeah keigwins has a lot of days, which doesnt mean anything to a non-season-pass holder. for 95% of trackday guys, its about the per day cost, which at Keigwins is consistently at least $20 more, (often notably more than that) than other providers. not impressed. and in my experience, you DONT always get what you pay for. i've had cheap PTT or FTD days (near $110 to $120 range) that were WAY more fun and just as organized as a Keigwins day, ONLY difference being that I didnt pay that extra $20 or $60 or whatever it turned out to be for that day. show me ONE keigwins day that is closer to $100 than $200.... good luck - they dont exist. I just bought a weekend at West from PTT for $120/day; and as a FTD season pass holder I bought all those days for $100 AND i get double sessions on Thill east

dont get me wrong, i will still ride keigwins, as I buy trackdays based on WHEN they are 98%, and who they are with only about 2%. just always chaps my hide when I have to pay more than anywhere else - AND again WTF is with a $170 day at West?!??! i love that track and try to make EVERY day EVERY season, but i just cant stomach $170 - thats just fucking insulting; i seriously hope NO ONE shows up on that weekend this month, just to show Keigwins that they cant get away with charging that much.... oh but wait, i forgot, they dont seem to care if no one else shows up - that doesnt seem to be the point of their business from what I can see

and Ken Hill :blah I can get more from listening to his podcasts than from a 1hour seminar listening to him, only way any rider is going to get any real personal attention/tips from him is to do one of his days (big $$$$, way outta my budget) - and NOT just show for a trackday at Keigwins and ask a question or two of him.

I've had the exact opposite experience with Keigwins, though it was while Lance still owned it. I rode with them several times in 2013/14 and saw instructors actively seeking riders out to help them. I even had an instructor help me load my bike into my truck at Sonoma unsolicited. He just rode by as my wife and I were packing up, threw his kickstand down and helped us load up my bike.

I did get a different vibe at Sonoma last week (first time riding with them since Lance sold), but it wouldn't make me avoid signing up with them in the future.

Keep a couple or three feet away from the car door. Allow the gentleman inside to open the door, and when he puts one foot outside onto the ground slam the door closed with every bit of your weight you can throw against it.
Bonus points for re-opening the door and slamming it shut once again on the mother fucker that dares question your manhood.

'merica :flag.

I did this a long time ago when some guy snaked into a parking spot that I was waiting for. When I got to his car window I spoke before I realized how huge the dude was. He immediately got out to kick my ass, but as he opened his door, I leaned back on the car behind me and kicked his door with all my might, catching his face with the metal window frame. Out and down, bleeding all over his white business shirt and tie. Did I mention that it was Christmas Eve? Merry Christmas jackass...Now go home and explain to your kids why Daddy has stiches in his face. :laughing

I told him he could keep the parking spot...Seemed fair.

His rant is with new management of keigwin. Lance sold this company a year or 2 ago.

Ive been to keigwins before and after, its true the atmosphere/vibe is different then what it was before imo.

Dunno how to explain it other then new management = new experiences

well monday morning and havin' a lil' crow for breakfast... still beats going to work and attempting to teach ghetto kids algebra!

did this past 2 day weekend with Keigwins @ West .... granted only cuz i gots me a stomachable price on a 2nd hand ticket - but i am happy to report things seems to have settled out in a positive manner with the kegwins crew. keep in mind my previous comments in this thread were based on a couple Lance Era days way back 3 or 4 years ago (which were great), and a couple days a year or so ago with them - shorty after the ownership change (which wernt so great, as said). also keep in mind my previous comments were coming from a track starved, pissed off guy who was about to miss a sweet weekend at Thill West cuz my monetary ethics and supplies simply refused to pay what Keigwins was asking! :laughing

happy to report - the vibe i got there is different now: the crew seems more at ease and more family like, welcoming, comfortable. i saw a lot of instructors enthusiastically helping customers, which was awesome. i even had a couple instructors pass my sorry ass and then turn down pace a bit so i could follow for a couple laps :thumbup a couple of them I could stay with as we were pull some solid 1:22's, others, like corey call and that canadian tailsection sticker fast fuck - yeah i cant hang at that pace! also i gotta mention that it was cool to have the keigwins crew pitted at 2 areas of the pits, rather than having them all in 1 location. at first i found it a bit click-y (as there seemed to be an OFG crew, and then a younger guy crew :laughing ), but after more thought I concluded it was a good idea, kinda helps spread the love, and keeps the pit speeds down

im still sticking strong to my guns that Keigwins pricing my kiss my sweeet black ass, and that their customer base is (likely resulting) a more upper-class group of people; but damn my scrub ass was surprised to feel as comfortable as i did. the riding style IS a bit different (likely again, resulting from), so there is some truth to AFM199's 'you get what you pay for' - as my riding buddy stated, "Riding with Keigwins is like riding with the adults", most riders out there just seemed to not to not be as out to prove something, or go insane fast while sacrificing control - just a lotta level headed peeps on track, and not a single "oh shit" moment all day.... semi sketch highlight was when Corey Call blew turn1 and crossed thru the dirt right in front of me, but i'm 99.9997% sure it was intentional...! little bit of brakes and all good i had the best seat in the house to watch the show :laughing

so yeah, anyone who did a Keigwins day back closer to the ownership change, and wrote them off (as I did) - i strongly encourage you to buy a (second hand :twofinger) day, and give them another shot.

I remember when PTT changed ownership just last year, and there was a SERIOUSLY weird vibe with the instructors as they had recently merged with Precision, so there were easily TWICE as many instructors as needed so all of them knew they were 1/8 inch from getting booted. the booting has since occurred, and while i havent done a PTT day yet this year, i hope they settled out OK, as last season it was clear a lot of the instructors had lost that :love feeling that is so desired in a trackday provider. Keigwins seems to have found that love again, and i was super duper glad to see it
