Title/Frame #/Engine # question

I discovered that truying to import my bike from another country (other than Canada) involves a lot of work and money. However if I tear the bike down, ship it over as parts and rebuild it using a US frame with US frame number, I think it should be OK. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Also I'd be putting my non-CA engine in the frame. I have gauges that show the bike has well over the 7500 miles, but do the DMV check engine numbers for registration etc?

yes, they check engine #s. If you get a salvage or "rebuilt" title, you can get away with mis-matching #s, but you should be fine, just more hoops to jump through.

I'm going through the process right now for a bike from another state that was rebuilt, and it's a bit of a wild goose chase!!
