When you take your cells outside of homeostasis (their comfort zone) your body responds by replacing the cells with those more able to stay in homeostasis with a greater level of activity.

Homeostasis:
In biology, homeostasis is the state of steady internal, physical, and chemical conditions maintained by living systems.[1] This is the condition of optimal functioning for the organism and includes many variables, such as body temperature and fluid balance, being kept within certain pre-set limits (homeostatic range). Other variables include the pH of extracellular fluid, the concentrations of sodium, potassium and calcium ions, as well as that of the blood sugar level, and these need to be regulated despite changes in the environment, diet, or level of activity. Each of these variables is controlled by one or more regulators or homeostatic mechanisms, which together maintain life.

Apparently, some extreme crack addicts rarely ever get sick, their body chemistry is probably too toxic for most viruses to survive. :laughing

Last time I called in sick was March 2010. Of course there were days I woke up feeling like shit but I channeled my old man. I don’t recall him ever missing a day at work. Now the ‘rona could break my streak. I haven’t caught it yet. Tested last week out of curiosity and was negative.

Stopped looking at weekly results. My OCD has been ebbing away as fitness gets enhanced.

Yearly bicycle result is going to break 5,000 miles for 2020.

And, dammit, I'm gathering a biker gang just from family members. But they sure buy used junk and then expect me to make it road worthy so they can ride with me.

So I'm finding I'm making greater strength gains working out "less". I am seeing more consistent weight training gains just working out the muscle group once a week, resting and then doing it again.

I'm still doing daily pushups but now I do like an easy 60 instead of trying to hit 100 every day, just to keep things stimulated and wake up my core.

Next week's workout. I've been choosing one of Tracy's routines on Sunday then doing it 3-4 times during the week. By the third run through I feel more comfortable I feel the work all week :laughing
I'm sticking to level 1 but explore her site if you want something more advanced.

Your body needs an opportunity to repair and replace cells after a hard workout. Also, a protein drink right after a workout aids with recovery, you usually want to drink it within 30 minutes of your workout for best results.

Sleep is important also, it's when your body gets the most done in recovery.

If you didn't push too hard, then at 24 hours after your last workout you have something called Super Compensation where your body has more glucose in your blood and cells making you stronger with more energy, but only if your cells weren't pushed so hard that they are still damaged. But, you can only repeat this cycle for several days then you need to give your body a rest for recovery.

it may simply be a phase in your strength development, you may find later that increasing frequency will give you better gains down the road. it's a mare of thongs not a sprint.
