The Wall a mess

That would be great. I'm available to help.

I thought about that.
I pushed it back up, so it wasn't hanging over benches.
I can bring a post- hole digger and some quickcrete, and we can sister the existing post with a new post.
Could be a fun project on a rainy day.
Clearly the new post would need a BARF carving.

Guardrails are supposed to stop cars. If they can't even support a few fat asses it might be time for the county to step up.

Guard rails were not designed to accommodate a thousand pounds of fat asses on it every day for years and years.

The slight wooden steps outside my office has supported a thousand pounds of fat asses walking on it daily for years.
This particular guardrail is falling down from soil erosion more so than from fat asses.

Wait a minute. You're telling me that stairs, which are designed to hold several thousand pounds of footsteps per day, are actually holding up to several thousand pounds of footsteps per day?
That's crazy!!!!! :laughing

Also, if you would take the time to venture to the scene in question, you'd see that soil erosion is not the issue.

Yeah and with smaller fewer posts not nearly as deep. Don't think they have a chance at stopping a car though.

:rofl there are also sidewalks built out of cement that hold up to not only people walking on it but bicycles and dogs trolling on it as well. It's amazing!

I'd be up to help too. Maybe we can refurbish the barf benches while we're there.
( and paint a giant BARF logo on the pavement at the pull out...lol)

problem is the street is divided into two. Westside of the street belongs to the University of California. Eastside of street is Contra Costa County. Neither does much in the way of cleanup blaming the other for whatever problems may appear up there.

Thus non-cleanup, or fix of the guardrail/the old stone wall.

Shame...

Ok, but the positive side if that is, that we can make it look good, fix the benches, get some positive PR for motorcyclists - and not get in trouble for it, because they are busy blaming each other.

As long as it has BARF associated with keeping it clean, I'm all for it.

Hell. Might as well put up a Motorcycle Parking Only sign while you're at it. :laughing

I ordered two at Amazon.
It is ofcourse for safety reasons, because a car cannot park there and have the driver exit the vehicle without being clipped by a tourist.

The other problem is that the Wall is essentially a traffic turn out. The scenic vista is a bit further South up Grizzly Peak.
Back in the late 90s and early 2000s the police used to harrass aus up there for parking in the turnout.
Weren't the benches originally installed by Rich and the guys from MAd Dog?
The guard rail supports were chainsawed one night along with the first set of benches. 2008-2010? I think they were repaired by the locals but I imagine they would be failing by now.
There's a rich history up in that spot, claiming it all to barf seems a bit forward.

One of out group had asked if it would be ok to put up a couple "Please Don't Litter" signs. They were told No.. It's considered littering....can't make this stuff up.
