OK - I thought - yellow gates are locked, green gates are closed and you just have to make sure you close them behind you... ?

Oh yeah, that gate wasn't locked, it just had a few chains and locks (not closed) layin' about such that on first glance I thought "damn, locked" without giving it another look. After hoofing it up to the lookout and back down I noticed the error of my ways on the way back... I felt like quite the idiot.

Just weighing in with my two cents - yes - you can be an "uncle" without being related (I have countless aunts, uncles & cousins who aren't blood relations!)

Oh yeah, I'm comfy with that too. He introduces me as his uncle, I've known Terry since junior high, he and his wife have been together 20 years already, blah blah blah. I'm Uncle Tom for sure.

It's crazy how something so insignificant like a little bug bite can snowball out of control so quickly.

I don't know what the docs told you what bit you or not but I've seen this before - it is a spider bite I just don't remember the kind of spider - and yup rather painfull

At least you were able to ride and have some fun :ride

Nope, but my doctor is inclined to agree with navy8ret in that it seems to be a spider bite. But there's just no way of knowing for sure.

I literally just got to work after yet another visit with my doctor and god damn it, I still have to keep a bandage on this freakin' thing for another week. It doesn't hurt or really bother me, but with the bandage I can't shower like normal (not supposed to get it wet) and I'm just ready to be over this. Oh well...

Sure you can. Get some Saran Wrap, seal that thing around the bandage with surgical tape, good to go.
