The Rig, “Not a wheelchair” mobility device for the outdoors.

I actually remember this guy cobbling together the prototype (out of two ebikes) a couple of years ago. I can see myself rocking one of these in the future with my deteriorating knees.

12mph top speed.

$4750 for single battery (10-20 mile range), $5450 for dual battery (25-35 mile range).

Unholy Blasphemies
Not a wheelchair but also totally a wheelchair :laughing

It's pretty awesome though. I'd love to see a more compact, lighter weight version.

Ridiculously overpriced. A good eBike is $1500 so 2 built together costing 3x the amount seems like a rip off.

Yea... I think stuff is really expensive these days too. But in comparison to other expensive things it seems the same or less. My dad has some hearing aids that were $6000. :loco.

As for E bikes, the ones ive looked at by Sur ron (sp?) are about that much before you do the stuff that it needs to survive. $1500 is a deposit on mid/high level unmotorized mtn bikes, which i believe is one of the most overpriced "toy" categories. Then theres the ORV or Razor type vehicles that are $20-$30k, as much as a decent truck. And you cant drive em on the road!

Shit be spensive...

Do you know how to make the thing?

I think it's priced pretty fair

I agree how many prototypes, Design's and material did it go through to get to this point. It reminds me of the scene from the movie The Patriot with Mel Gibson when he opens his barn and there's failed rocking chairs stacked to the ceiling.
I found it interesting that it was a solid axle but it looked like an ifs rear with a arms. I'll have to go back and look more closely. I hope that was aluminum tubing because if that was steel that thing must be extremely heavy. But specifically calling out that it is not a wheelchair or medical device I'm sure it's skirts a lot of certification and testing process.

my suggestion for option#2

-buy a used quad, stripe it down

-convert to electric power

-take the money saved and spend it on something else.

-win/win/win

It's a solid rear axle like a gokart, but mounted on some kind of half-gimbal setup to mimic a leaf spring style live axle.. is the best I can surmise with what they showed. The chain is taking some misalignment or the motor is mounted to the axle assembly so there is no.misalignment

Was thinking the same thing at what looked like 1/4" material. Better be aluminum! :laughing

Can I just add that the guy in the video sounded super smarmy?

Was watching with no sound and was laughing at the prices being redlined, totally looked like an as-seen-on-tv commercial. Was wondering if you'd get two of them if you ordered right now, that'd be a deal.

This is the one ive been looking at. Very different than what yours is meant for.

Paaaaaat! Do you frequent the dirt threads? Merlin had been loving his. My main complaint is that it looks like a 3/4 sized bike and I think I'd feel like a Russian circus bear on a tricycle riding one.

I'm not sure about the whole "not a wheelchair" thing. If it's not a wheelchair, then it's a motorized vehicle on a beach/trail and that really limits your options. They should want it to be a wheelchair, imo.

Yeah my rational was dumb.

I just feel it’s expensive based on my knowledge of the industry and how much other companies charge for similar device.
