Anybody else notice a significant uptick in illegal fireworks? San Jose has always had this issue leading up to the 4th but this past two weeks has just been insane. My dog has been in misery every single night for the last two weeks.

People are reporting the same phenomena across the country.

I think the notion that the police is behind it is silly. But I wouldn’t put it past Russia and/or China, part of the Gerasimov Doctrine of asymmetric warfare to further destabilize/disrupt an already vulnerable populace.

Nah, its the same old insanity. Fourth of July, New Year, it’s like a war zone here.
Being an old fart, I kinda care. A fire would be a serious inconvenience.

It’s been way more than usual. Some fucking chode set off what must’ve been a M1000 at like 3am last night. I’m over it.

I know where I am cops and firemen make up a huge portion of the illegal fireworks being set off all the time. On my street a higher ranking guy in a local fire department was “the guy” who had the sick display every year. Makes you wonder about our safe and sane laws and the sweet surrender deal firehouses have.

At least two houses in my neighborhood have burnt to the ground from illegal fireworks in like the last 7 years. No one has come forward or been prosecuted in either case.

My neighborhood sounds like a war zone for about 4 weeks surrounding 7/4. Thankfully my dogs are chill about it. I’d be a lot more aggressive in reporting people if they were suffering. NextDoor is always good for a laugh at this time, there should be a pop up with the local non-emergency number every time you log on with all the posts “Was that gunfire? I heard gunfire right down the street!”

Way worse. Been going on since Memorial Day here in west county. No visuals just very loud explosion hour after hour, very close to my house. Woke up frequently in wee hours. All over the next door deal that ms ba is on

You guys obviously don't live in Hollister. I don't know about early displays but when I am there on the Fourth it is awesome I see fireworks there that I don't even see here in Swampistan and pretty much anything below thermonuclear warheads are allowed around here.

We had a guy who set off so much tannerite that I heard/felt it about 2 miles away like I was standing right next to it and the cops just showed up to make sure everyone was okay and didn't get hurt no citations were issued.

School graduations and parties past couple weeks. There was house about 5-blocks from me setting of HUGE monster ones that rattled my windows! Cops aren't going to do anything about it, unless people start losing fingers. And police station is only 2-blocks on other side of this place!

I don't mind so much, but it really scares the animals!

Ah....Nextdoor. Whenever I worry if I'm being a ninny, I just check on Nextdoor. If I'm in agreement with whatever they're whining about, I know that I've ticked over into the loser camp. :laughing
