One flys out of Sausalito very cool plane

Chartered one in Alaska for a 30 minute flight, including a touch and go on a small lake out in the tundra Rusts Flying Service). Floated in like a leaf with a soft touch down and I complimented the pilot (I was flying right seat). He looked at me and thanked me but told me it was mostly the airplane, he didn't want to take credit for the smooth touch and go.

A friend of mine in Washington has a flight service and was thinking about getting one for flying people in to remote lakes. I searched "beaver float plane". Gave up after the first 10 pages didn't have any airplanes. Had to go to the de Havilland website. Nice plane. I like the twin Otter too.

They are somewhat rare, extremely sought after and can be very expensive. Even those that are in rough shape are bought and extensively overhauled and put into service. Some have been converted with turbines (with an added $1,000,000 to the price tag). About a dozen here on the Trade-A-Plane website:

Had enough of the relentless news cycle? Take a 20 minute break with some mismatched oval drag races from Rockford speedway in Rockford, IL. This the same place I posted the Figure 8 school bus races from last year.
