The 2010/11 NHL Thread

Fuck off
I know the cup was just won a little over a week ago and the awards for 09/10 haven't even been handed out yet but with the free agent market opening in just about two weeks and lots of goings on occurring I figured I'd start this next season off with some news and notes from around the league.

New Jersey hires John Maclean as their new head coach. (Good choice IMO as the guy knows the organization and was an awesome player in his day and was always kind of a coach on the ice while playing.)

Jaraslav Halak has been traded to the Blues for next to nothing which means the Habs are either gonna rely solely on Carey Price or they intend on acquiring a bigger named goalie, whatever the intent I find it to be a good pick up for the Blues who now have a pretty decent goaltending core.

The Wings sign Bertuzzi to a 2 year extension.

The Bruins name Cam Neely their new President.

Rob Blake is set to announce his retirement tomorrow morning.

And more to come with the draft next week and free agency opening July 1.

Welcome to the off season folks, it should be a fun one. :party

You lucky bastige !! I wish I had the monies for season tickets.

ONE DAY I SHALL BE RICH ENOUGH !!! :laughing

I look forward to going to more than two games this upcoming season. That was the least amount of games attended since they moving to the Tank. :cry :x

So where to start;

-The NHL awards are to take place in Las Vegas on June 23.
-2010 NHL Entry draft on June 25-26 with the top two prospects; Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin (expected to go 1 and 2 respectively)
-Free Agent Frenzy begins July 1st
-We are currently in a two week buyout period, and thus far the only (noteable) victim of having their contract bought out was Georges Laraque.

Philly aquires Dan Hamhuis from Nashville for Ryan Parent. Guess we won't be getting him. :x

Yea, I was pretty disappointed when I heard that news. Oh well, there are still plenty of UFA/RFA's out there to still be had.

Better seats same section
Just get away from armpit boy and jabber girl

Stephen, can I go with you? My appointment is on the 24th, and I heard that if I went with a season ticket holder with a prior appt I would be able to secure my seats a couple of days early.

Not entirely sure what I'm looking for yet either.. Probably $1200/seat section if available.

Is there a Fantasy League where the game carries over from season to season? That would be real interesting to play.
