Wondered whether to post this here.
Well here we are. I wonder what the BARFer comments would be.

Remember: This is Germany. Not the USA. Your comment may be prefaced with "if this were in.. " etc

dude has 2.5Mil views by now.. and I didn't see what was the number yesterday when I watched it.

.. but when he calms down he says "oh my god" in English.

that part BTW is because he has a "podcast" channel/vlog, so maybe he realized he wants to make it more appealing after the calming-down period.

Maybe he's just using common phrases because that's what on his mind / type of expression. :dunno

expecting bigger carnage? :laughing
your post made me think that.. there is a benefit to changing lanes more slowly, like #2 did

The key here, though, isn't the 183, it's the differential between the two cars. He was doing 200km/h but the rest of the cars were pretty fast too.

The only "scary" part where the speed had noticeable affect is during the slow down and swerving part, trying to scrub the momentum.

But all that said, this was avoidable. He had plenty of time and room to slow down (mind I don't know what was behind him).

Was that an unrestricted part of the Autobahn? Did the merging car use a turn signal? Couldn't really see if it did or not.

This.

You can see the driver react to the lane change waaaay in advance. He anticipated it and began flashing his headlights when there was more than enough distance to prevent the crash. It was only after the car actually crossed into his lane that he started braking.

Had he began braking at the same time he began flashing his lights, this would have been a non-issue.

Reminds me of that video on 80N @ Emeryville where someone pulled into carpool lane in front of rider. He had full 2-seconds+ to avoid car but hit it anyway.

He covers, that he is in the unrestricted section in "Vid #5" on his vlog ...

yes, he was in the unrestricted section (but sometimes people drive a little faster in others too.)

EDIT: huh, now is the first time I noticed the original video actually shows the Sign. How did I miss it last time?!?!?

4.2+M views BTW.

BTW the damage to his mirror was just an outer shell :rofl not even a bit of glass broken..

well, some people apparently--and is well known--think that when they're doing super-high-speed they are the kings of the fast lane. (In other countries. It's actually feels like that around here too.)

I love how he's German but when he calms down he says "oh my god" in English.

No, he said it in German.

It is weird to me that some people still don't realize that English is a Germanic Language. They typically mistakenly think we use a Latin Language, which we do not.

Contemporary Germans in post war Germany use a LOT of English as well, so the language associations are even closer now.

I mean, he didn't yield his lane and let the slow ass get ahead of him, so problem solved, right? :teeth
