Re Tired Not Dead
Fyi -

Hipster Fest hits Portland (as if we need more hipsters) with a superb curated collection of very special motorcycles from all over the dang place.

Carlo has a bike or two in the show, I'll be riding to the show on Sunday on my venerable VF1100s.

And for those of you who are non-FaceBookers -

If you're in, near or even if you want to blast up from the bay area, you can't go wrong with a visit to this event.

Bonus - hipster chics on bikes.

See ya!

Kind of sad the bay area is lacking some of the cooler events happening elsewhere. All we really have is the Dirtbag.
I was trying to get a friend of Thor's to open a SeeSee in Oakland and get their network of fun spread down here. We need some DirtQuake events down here.

(I am not nearly the social or connected type to make anything like this happen myself, so I will just bitch about it on :twofinger)

I would be a happy and willing participant like I was in the early Dirtbags.

There's some dirtquake type events held in los angeles, and I know a few people trying to make some happen here.

Wanted to make it up for this but too much happening this weekend.

Re Tired Not Dead
The weather here in PDX was gorgeous today. Near 60 and bright sunshine. TONS of motorcycles out and about. A couple friends of mine (yes, and I don't rent them) went today. The line was around the block to get in. The parked bikes in the neighborhood ended up being the show for a lot of people.

I"m pumped about hitting theOne tomorrow.

I went to the show yesterday and thought it was fantastic!

We got there in the early afternoon, but there was already a long line of people waiting to get in and the line kept growing. My initial thought was too bad we don't have an event like this in the Bay Area. I can't remember the last time I went to a moto show and there was a line of people waiting to get in.

I also thought it'd be a big hipster show based on some of the past write ups of the event. Though there were plenty of hipsters in attendance, all sorts of riders were represented. The people who rode to the show were on big Harleys, dual sports, vintage, sport bikes, etc. It was also a good mix of men and women - young and old.

Other cool things about the show: It's free to attend. It runs for 3 days (yesterday's hours were 11:00 AM to midnight!). They had some tasty food and drinks (local coffee and micro brews priced like you'd usually find at a shop). People were friendly. And there was plenty of free parking.

Here are some pictures from the show. Lots of cool customs of all different styles - from big name builders (Roland Sands, Lossa Engineering, Deus, etc) and smaller shops/guys as well.

I was up there for a moped rally and we blasted by on Friday night, looked pretty cool but yeah it sounds like the lines were too long. Did see a ton of sweet bikes in PDX all weekend though.

I attended this last year and this year. I liked the venue last year a lot more, but I was happier with the bikes this year.

I also enjoyed the line from last year (none, due to the snow) vs. the line from this year. We were going to try to go Friday night but the line wrapped around the block and we weren't dressed for it. We went early Saturday and there was already a line.

The guy with the wolf made my head hurt, and a couple of my friends are going to get the dirty needle embroidery guy to do custom patches of their dogs (the guy is really talented).

Anyone hit up the zwickelmania brewery tour that was happening on Saturday? The rally ride stopped at 12 breweries throughout PDX on Sat.

Breweries. Small samples and it was arranged that as the day wore on you got closer to downtown the breweries got closer together and were all in walking distance. Worse and dumber than HD, mopeds.

Damn! I saw an Asian lady standing next to the entrance to the building who looked a lot like you, but I didn't say anything because every time I do that thinking it's someone I know it turns into an awkward and embarrassing moment when they say they aren't who I thought they were! Especially if it's someone I only met once or twice in the first place.

Got a few pictures.

The Greeves Silverstone roadracers my friend Steve and I brought up from Eugene,
A Yamaha Roadracer customized by Deus Ex Machina
A sidecar BMW racer.
The engine Bay of the Triumph Bonneville bike, twin Rocket Three powered.
A "Logging Bike" entered by the Eugene BMW dealer. All the items on it including the winch and cable spool on the rear deck are functional.

Haha. You should have taken the chance and said "Hi." But it was somewhat out of context since it was in Portland. We should have done a roll call. I saw that you'd have a bike there, so I looked, but didn't spot you either. Next time!

I wasn't sure if that logging bike was functional. That sure had a lot of gear on it. My personal favorite was the burgundy frame Triton. I think it was built by The Gasbox out of OH. Such a pretty bike.

That Triton was beautifully done. For sure, there was some real masterful fabrication and finish work on display last weekend.

Portland has so many motorcycle enthusiasts, and it seems like all of them were there.
