Tesla Model 3: End of the Internal-Combustion Engine?

I wouldn't be so certain about that. I think Musk is targeting this truck at people who want massive torque to tow heavy cargo. If all it is in the end is an electrified Ridgeline, that'll be disappointing.

I expect pretty awesome performance given what Musk has said already, but I don't think it's going to have Blade Runner type out there styling. I think it'll be reasonably consistent with the rest of the lineup.

Actually, so far all we know is he keeps claiming it’ll be even more blade runner than the current blade runner esque fan renders.

But yeah I’d agree he’s not targeting this at ridge line owners. He’s targeting it as a Colorado or 1500 with the towing capabilities beyond a 3500. And it may just work - I would say the majority of the 2500/3500 size owners only bought it to tow and usually have a 2nd vehicle for daily driving. If you can do both with one vehicle for cheaper than either of the two let alone combined, that’s a win. If you can tow your wakeboard boat, horse trailer, etc plus sit in traffic and not care about how much fuel you’re burning while idling, that’s a win. If you can have the acceleration of a BMW M4 with the towing of a 3500 diesel, that’s a win.

But if it looks worse than a PT Cruiser, you’re still going to lose. I’m crossing my fingers it’s more in line with the first render I posted than the other two.

Tesla short sellers lose $1.5 billion in a single day
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tesla-stock-price-up-short-sellers-lose-1-5-billion-in-single-day/

Tesla shares shot up $45, or nearly 20%, on Thursday after the company reported a rare quarterly profit. Most analysts had been expecting a loss.
The stock price gain clobbered short sellers -- bearish investors who bet shares will fall -- with a $1.5 billion paper loss on Thursday alone.
Tesla remains one of the most shorted stocks in the market.

The Tesla energy storage business, like grid storage, has been taking off. Tesla says that Tesla energy can be as large as its car business.

The Tesla Solar Roof is FINALLY launching. I was disappointed that it was taking so long. I think its a great idea.

There is on in place 3 houses down from me. The owner was a Tesla engineer. They put a test roof on his place. It looks good. No idea how well it works cause the guy is kind of a dick and we don't talk. :laughing

I feel like the solar roof is still extremely expensive and also seems like a maintenance nightmare if things start going bad.

Also, no way to expand the capacity once you've got it installed.

With the PG&E blackouts, its a good time to launch home power solutions that don't require grid power 100%.

Is it the one that catches fire? Did his house catch fire? Or were those just the Tesla solar panels..

Hasn't caught fore yet! :laughing I think guy has a wall battery and charges his model 3 off it. The roof looks just like shingles. Took them about a month to put it on. You wouldn't even notice it if you weren't hip to what it was. I will try to get a pic for yall.

No, no, no, Musk swears it's going to be in production next year! I don't think Musk has any clue about how wheels, tires, weight and aero impact a lap time. The whole thing just reeks of childishness, like so much of what he does.

The day he takes a stock Model S and runs faster lap after faster lap around Laguna than a Taycan Turbo, and it doesn't fall apart, I'll be impressed. That Autobild video comparison of the handling of the Taycan and the Model S through the cones shows exactly why they're really not comparable cars and why Porschephiles would never be satisfied with a Model S when the Taycan is out there, unless the cost difference is an issue.

BTW, isn't it ironic that, in the pic above, the door handles are all extended. Safety reasons maybe? Maybe that family suing Tesla might want to use this picture when they depose Tesla reps?

Did they actually run the car around the ring with extended door handles?

There is no way to do that using the factory UI.

I wish Tesla would release the SpaceX package for the Model S with the rocket thrusters, like on the roadster.
