Suzuki DR650 Reliability

I got a kick out of reading this article on ADVrider. I can attest to first hand experience the reliability of the DR650. 40,000 miles on mine, 40,000 miles very rough miles tearing up the trails all over the country and it's still going. Of course its in hibernation right now awaiting new wheel, sprockets, and electrical work. It's not the sharpest tool in the shed but it damn well the most durable.

I've drank that Kool-Aid. After having put 10,000 km on a rental in New Zealand a few years back, I became somewhat smitten with the DR. I picked up a "mechanics special" a couple of months ago and really couldn't be happier. Circumstances have kept me from putting a ton of miles on it, but hopefully that'll change soon. And a big part of wanting one was how dead reliable and simple it is, that and that I could essentially fix anything on it with a crescent wrench, a screwdriver, a rock and a stick.
