Suspicious blue Daytona 955i parked in San Jose

Charmed

Inbound @ this time, over
Hi all,

This may be nothing, but there’s been a blue Daytona parked in a terrible spot down in San Jose for any motorcycle, much less a nice British import. I’m posting a picture of the plate, so if you’re in San Jose and this is your bike I would strongly recommend moving it literally anywhere but there and/or covering it!

Wasn't that Ice Cube's ride in Biker Boyz?

Always looked like a glorified Katana to me

Glorified Katana? Shut your mouth!

But seriously, I had a '00 955i and still regret selling it. It was a great bike and the best looking Triumph ever made.

Suspicious Blue! My favorite color!!

(and as a '99 955 owner, I too have seen the katana similarities)

A 1st gen 955, the best looking Triumph ever made? :wtf

It had the front end of an SV650S, with lowers that were way too wide, making the bike look fat.

The later re-designs looked better IMO

BTW, the Sprint RS was another Triumph that looked like an SV650S. The Sprint came out in 99, the Suzuki came out a year later. Yet another example of Asians ripping off Euro styling.

Well, it's all subjective of course, but personally I think the first-gen Daytona looked way better than anything that came after it. It reminds me of a more rounded 916. The later bikes looked a lot less unique and interesting, and looked more Japanese:

And the even later bike lost that sexy single-sided swingarm and had a front that looked like a mid-90s Suzuki:

Again, it's impossible to debate subjective preferences, but I don't think Triumph has come out with any bike that looks better than the first-gen Daytona. Some of the Speed Triples came close though.

From those angles, maybe you're right. I did like the vent in the tail, I just wish the dimensions were a bit less wide.

SV650S and SV650 came out in 1999.

I see the similarities:

But I also see the differences that make the bikes easily distinguishable from each other. There are way more dissimilarities than there are similarities. The only thing that really makes them look similar is that they are styled in a soft/round fashion. After that, there's not much there........

Those are the same bike. One is just a stock photo so it looks different.

I was specifically talking about the front end & lights, which look almost exactly the same to me
