Race Day - Reccomendations
- Sounds like you've got the basics in order. It's relatively laid back when it comes to getting you both on track. Most categories are Open, so you're instantly qualified. with even a minimal amount of track time you'll be fine. Each racing class (division) gets two races, a heat race and a main event. We will likely grid for the heat races by order of sign up, the main event line up order (grid) is based on heat race finish. Giving you added practice before the final. Most people seem to enter two classes. Typically we run 6 lap heat races and 8 lap main events. All sign ups etc. are done at the track, just the basic minimal bike prep needs to be done in advance. NUMBERS on the BIKE are important. We expect many new racers this season, the pace will reflect that.

So my buddy is all gung-ho for doing this, just want to make sure about what we're getting into and that we won't be completely out of place.
I'd be on a street-legal WR250X-SM, he on a street-legal DRZ-400SM. I'm a mid-pack AFM novice, but have done only one supermoto trackday ever. He's close to as fast as me, but with lots more SM trackdays under his belt.
Are we going go be completely outclassed / rolling chicanes for everyone else? Does anyone care?
Are there licensing requirements? Do I need to prove I can even ride a motorcycle? Or is literally just show up morning-of, sign up, and hit the track?
Bike prep seems super basic. Water wetter, tape/remove lights and mirrors, remove side stand, and slap some numbers on the fenders. Easy enough. No belly pan, no safety wire, etc.
Classes (as if I haven't been bit in the ass by this before)!
Vet+35 - is this just for anyone over 35 years old? Fast guys only?
Open Novice? Open Beginner?
GP1 400 - looks like this is OK with 17" supermoto wheels.
How many races do you guys typically sign up for?
Anything else I'm missing?
