Sport Touring ride with a newbie-friendly :thumbup trip from Cordelia Junction to Santa Rosa. Newbies and cruisers return on their own via easy and direct Hwy 12 or 101.
The main group of more experienced riders on appropriate motos will return challenging, twisty, :wtf mountainous roads. PLEASE do not attempt Sonoma Mtn, Trinity, or Mt Veeder roads unless you have the skills, equipment, and presence of mind to ride these difficult roads. There are conditions such as continous steep grades, decreasing radius turns, loose gravel, wildlife, narrow roads with steep exposure, and other hazards.
This is a touring ride, so the pace will generally be mellow and there will be a few short stops to regroup, see the sights, or smell the flowers. We'll also have the longer stop in Santa Rosa for lunch and a short stroll around the LB Gardens. Please have the patience for this kind of tempo.
Please no crazy riding, ride safely at a moderate pace. Be sure your bike and the rider are in good condition and wear appropriate safety gear. Bring money for gas, lunch, and snacks. Remember, Ride Your Own Ride. You are responsible for yourself.
In the spirit of touring and to add some interest to the ride, during our lunch stop in Santa Rosa we'll have a short visit to the Luther Burbank Gardens. :nerd Burbank was a pioneer agricultural figure, who developed a lot of hybrid plants we take for granted today. You can learn more at Wikipedia

There is no admission charge to the Gardens, but there is a $6 charge to tour the home. There are guided tours on the half-hour, and depending our timing, that may be an option. Let's try to keep the total stop for lunch and visit to about one hour. There a a few picnic tables on the LBHG grounds and there are several options for lunch within a couple of blocks, including Sbarra's, Panda Express, and the highly rated Dierk's

Meet at Cordelia Starbucks 4490 Central Way (Suisun Valley Rd exit off Hwy 80 near Hwy 680) @ 8:30am, gas and caffeine up. There are several gas stations nearby, so please leave with plenty of gas! Safety huddle @ 8:50, ROLL @ 9. If you're late, meet us along the route. My cell phone number is (925) 381-0200.
Route is roughly Hwy 12 > Sonoma (lots of touristy turns here) > Arnold Dr > Warm Springs Rd > Bennett Valley Rd > Santa Rosa.
Independent newbies are welcome on the outgoing ride to Santa Rosa and can return on their own or as a group via Hwy 12 (not a freeway) or Hwy 101 (freeway slab). This is an easy return to Cordelia or elsewhere. I recommend Hwy 12 as it's a more scenic alternative. Please have at least a few thousand motorcycle miles behind you, and be comfortable and safe riding in groups at varying speeds, including freeway speed.
Gnarly :ride return is Bennett Valley Rd > Sonoma Mtn Rd > Trinity Rd (very steep and twisty) > Dry Creek Rd > Mt. Veeder Rd > Redwood Rd > Trancas. Gas stop and stretch in Napa, continue on CA121 > Wooden Valley Rd > Susuin Valley Rd > Cordelia.
Total estimated mileage 125 miles. Total time including stops about 6 hours. Back to Cordelia about 3pm.
* If you leave the group, please let me or the sweep know your intentions.
