Suit (formalware) rentals?

Getting married in August, and have been in two wedding parties so far this year, both with different rentals for the suits.

First was Black Tux, which was an interesting idea but their suits had weird fitting, and with return shipping, going to tailor, having to submit receipts for reimbursements... was a headache. On top of that, one renter had an ATROCIOUS customer support experience.

Second is Mens Warehouse. A bit pricier, but you know it will fit well before you leave the store. Locations everywhere... someone in my wedding party is in SoCal so this is a plus. Downside is it's a huge chain and I'd rather support a "little guy" store, so long as it's not egregiously more expensive.

Anyone have suggestions? Not looking for anything super fancy, 3 piece suits navy w/ burgundy ties for myself + 3 guys. Preferably somewhere in Peninsula, South Bay, or East Bay. I hate SF with a passion. :thumbup

Some Nordstrom's help make the Black Tux experience less problematic.

It's been a long time, but I rented from here in Campbell for my wedding party. It's a Selix Company. Groom got the tux rental for free with paid rentals from the rest of the groomsmen.

Also, they came through in a bind. I had a couple groomsmen from out of the area. They were supposed to have measurements taken and send them in to the shop. My dumb brother in law didn't get measured. He just guessed. When he came into town and tried on the tux the night before the wedding, the pants were way too small. Like he could never wear them. It was a morning wedding too. I made some phone calls and we raced over to the shop first thing that morning. They were able to come through right on the spot and quickly got him proper fitting pants.

So yeah, I'd recommend using them.

Got a last minute tux at Nordstrom Rack, they made adjustments for me to make it fit right, and I picked it up the day before the wedding, last minute groomsman to the rescue!! :laughing

It’s a good thing the groom was one of my really good friends, otherwise, I’d have said no way. :rofl

Don’t rent.

The last wedding I was in I had to rent a suit because my grey suit was the wrong shade. Worst MW experience ever. They had suits on sale for half the price of the stupid rental. They were three days late on delivery, to the point where my wife had to pick it up as soon as they took it off the truck and race it to me and I had to jump into it because the rest of the party had been waiting for photos. The jacket was for a child so I couldn’t move my arms lest the sleeves ride halfway up my arms.

You’re not forming a Motown band or selling a brand. Buy a tux you like, have your guys bring a suit in a color you like and leave it up to them. After paying almost $300 for a poorly fitting suit I vowed never again on renting and having someone tell me what to wear. I even told my friend his wedding gift from me would have been way cooler if he hadn’t made me waste so much money on a stupid suit.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm picking up my MW suit for my buddy's wedding this week so we'll see how that goes... though I'd really prefer to give my money to a little guy.

MW is not bad if you are buying. You get free pressing at any MW location, and free adjustments if you need additional tailoring.

Jos A. Banks isn’t bad, but for some reason, I’ve never bought a suit/tux from them.
