Is anyone planning a trip to street vibrations in Reno this weekend? We're leaving out friday and was wondering if anyone else was going to this.

BTW
to anyone planning a ride around the lake this weekend, there was supposed to be lake tahoe marathon going on that would close different parts of the highways on the weekend

apparently there is some issues with state agencies getting OT to close the highway so the whole marathon might be canceled but I thought I'd give you heads up

Recedite, plebes!
Probably leaving Ptown / Livergulch by 9:00AM, then up 88 / 89 around North side of lake. In the past Friday afternoon 89 around the lake was ok.

Also, in the past the marathon (on Sunday) starts around Tahoe City on 89 then down to and around Emerald Bay to the "Y". Runners get the lake side lane and South bound vehicle traffic gets the other. You'll get a good left hand workout as traffic is at best 5-15 MPH and you'll be yelling "This Fuggin Sucks" out loud the two hours it takes to ride that section during the marathon!!! No vehicle traffic allowed North bound until race is over.

Never had a traffic issue other than around the lake.
Will remember to watch the speed coming back down the hill on 80 though.

edit: oops.......strike all that. Hell, I can do 200 mi in 8 hrs easy.......twofinger yourself :)

I'm riding the Deuce up Friday early and camping at Zephyr Cove on Lake Tahoe. My plan is to set up camp Friday and spend the rest of the day on the beach swilling ice cold beer. Saturday I will hit VC early and be parked in front of the Bucket of Blood at Ground Zero where all of the girls earning their beads. Stop by and say "Hi" I will be the only bike with a Bud tap.

Urgent announcement!!
as of Sept 22, 2010 10 AM

An unbelievable political event has occurred. The Governor of California has cancelled all Cal Trans encroachment permits onto the state highways and CHP overtime affecting our event and leaving us without dedicated CHP protection.

We have no intention of canceling our events. City, county, and federal services are still available. And the common intelligence of our athletes will provide common sense safety.

Athletes are coming from all over the world for this event. We will bike and run as planned with some safety modifications. The swim, kayak, and golf events are not affected.

I will ask the City of SLT, and El Dorado and Placer Counties to help provide for our safety issues.

We will run on the side of the road facing traffic. Bikes will obey all traffic regulations as already stated in the rules.

I will update everyone at the volunteer meeting tonight at 6 PM at the Horizon Casino.

The governor is trying to force the state legislature to pass the state budget. He obviously wants the citizens, and in this case, our runners, to call and pressure their individual legislators. The first step would be to contact the Governor’s Office to impress upon him the unfairness of canceling the road closure permit and CHP support, especially so close to the date. His office phone number is 916 445-2841 and the fax number is 916 558-3160.

:laughing
