Stonyford ride report 4-26-17

I rode at Stony last Friday and it was great. The dirt was great and I want to go back soon. There are a few things to note.

They did a great job clearing fallen trees across the trails but there are more stumps and pointy branches that can grab you than before.

With all the rain there is a lot of brush that has overgrown sections of trails. Trails 22B and 22D are so thick you have to part the brush to get through. Not even worth it. Sections of 20 and 22 are overgrown enough to really obstruct any forward view for head-on crash avoidance at normal speeds - so be careful there. Other sections are pretty open due to the fires.

Trail 3 is blocked at the creek crossing where it shares the trail with M5 by Cedar Camp so there is no through route for a loop. M5 is closed there as well.

Trail 30 from Wolf Creek past the road up to M5 is not for beginners as it has some eroded real rocky hill sections. Still a blue for Stony though. Just not green like the rest of 30.

The flying insects are already prevalent - bring repellent. It will be a big year for skeeters.
