speed control by radar detector

I have always wondered...

if some legislators/ states have problems with radar detectors why doesn't the government just set up unmanned radar stations all over the place? It would make dector packers slow down and the dectors almost pointless.

Cost? Are our legistors are perhaps buddies with dector manufactors? Is there a conspiresy? (how do you spell that?)

The signs that tell you your speed and blink angrily at you when you're over the limit (especially popular around Palo Alto) do essentially this exact thing. The problem with the whole idea however is that people learn where these things are, unless you move them around all the time. :)

I've noticed that the one near Gunn High School on Arastradero Rd. doesn't ever pick up my bike:confused

I've been wanting to use it to measure my speedo error

even if it did pick you up, the refresh rate on the ones i see is horrific. head down to miramonte in mountain view (becomes shoreline blvd easy of el camino) they have them about every 15 feet. give or take maybe they'll work

Unique Case
Problem with the roadside speed signs is they use the older K band radar and most LEO's use Ka band radar. My detector can indetify which band is being used, shows which band it is and gives a different tone for different bands. I generally ignore the K band tone because its the roadside speed signs and not a real LEO. Also, as recursive said, I have learned where most of the roadside spped signs are in MV and Sunnyvale.
