Used to watch some of the early seasons. Got so tired of listening to all the damn dialogue between the female characters.

Did they kill the asian guy for shits and giggles or was it another lie put forth by Gemma? Bets on Unser coming out alive? 10%. Manson's part seemed ok but Courtney Love is gonna fuck it all up, I can tell. Right now there a way to many players and my thought is everyone is gonna die.

I think she chose him. She asked the guy whether he had kids. He gave the right answer "No, didn't think I'd make it this far." Wrong answer for him.
Man, part of the reason I don't wanna watch it is that they have gotten me to hate Gemma so very much. Talk about a black widow. I wonder how long Jimmy Smits has for that matter.

Yes a tad overdone with the gore in this opening S7 episode.
Maybe the fictional reason is that with Tara murdered Jax doesn't feel the need to try to be mister 'nice' guy anymore, doesn't need to get the club out of all of the biz deals that bleeds the them and he is now free to go ape-shit on anyone or anything that gets in the way of SOA.
Coming attractions showed Juice ratting out SOA biz/intel to the Mayans. This will be very interesting.

With Juice spilling the dirty laundry soon and Juice having first person details of Tara's death we should be seeing a Gemma/Juice mister mayhem two-fer. Or at least Gemma, good riddance.

Oh yeah, I forgot to ask: did any of you watch the "aftershow?" I watched the first segment but found the combo of the lame interviewer, the late hour and the cognitive dissonance of Otto being normal and Jax being ENGLISH just too weird for me.
I mean, it was okay. But when they started asking Hunnam Facebook questions, I was cringing at what might emerge. So I turned it off. Apparently they are gonna do one after each show.

Generally, when a show can make you hate a character, they are doing a good job. Remember in the Howard Stern movie, the guy says "people who like him listen 10 hours per week; people who hate him listen 20?" Same goes for us with shows where there are characters we love (jax, etc), coupled with characters we HATE.
Plus, you know someone is doing a solid job of writing and casting when that happens..
This. I am so annoyed that is the direction they decided to go again. It's stupid. We have done this twice in the last two seasons and they were both really disappointing. No one is THAT stupid to just kill some guy because their insane mother said so, again! They make Jax out to be this brilliant, plotting, mostly rational leader, who has moments of weakness when it comes to family or club. But then they contradict that as he thinks the clearest when it comes to those and comes up with some CRAZY plans that no one predicts that are sheer brilliance.
Besides, I thought he hated her guts still?
Anyway, bums me out that the writers were lazy and took the easy road with the same plot approach: psychopathic mother tricks son again to do bidding.
I was really hoping this season would have been fun, with a fucked up twisted ending. You know, pillage, plunder, general mayhem that we've come to expect from these guys. Get all cozy with the other gangs, make it a golden era. Then have it all come crashing down with some crazy downward spiral weird stuff that keeps you guessing.
But no, mom plot. Fail.

Also, funny that I've been watching the Soprano's with the wife for the last few months. Amazing how many similarities there are in the activity stereotypes, etc. Organized crime is all one and the same I guess? :shrug

I don't know now after this the season opener. I'm tired of the sulking, creepy and now totally psychopathic Jax. Gemma? The woman takes cunning to a new level. I was disappointed with the episode and it's gratuitous, predictable violence and all the retarded expressions of the Sons as Jax is perfecting his sadistic craft, devolving evermore in front of the voyeuristic circle jerk of "brothers." Jackie boy, we love you man..............not!:thumbdown

It was pretty good actually, they explain Jax's kills everyone attitude and it makes sense when they explained it. Those guys aren't hacks (Kurt Sutter & the actors) they are really deep and talented about what they do and some get turned off by the violence and miss the real art ot the acting and writing.

Ask them why they took the easy path then? I guess its like music, come out with a unique new hit album, keep making more of them even if it gets old and boring fast..

It's just the first show and they're setting the scenes for what's to come storywise, they're still writing and shooting episodes so patience Ducky, patience :laughing

Agreed. I also agree the vibe, lighting, fact that it was live, Jax being Britishy, was kind of weird. I've seen Sutter in other stuff so I can detach the Otto connection.
I am impressed by the general talent in the whole series. Yeah there are flaws but better than most other crap nowadays. I give Sutter much cred tho because he has really invested a lot of his life in research and immersion into actual biker gangs, interviews with real 1%ers, etc. just to get things right and I think that shows fairly well. At least as much as you could dramatize for TV.
