Somebody Make This ...

A thread for ideas by people who lack time, money, or skills to make them.

Inspired by the Reddit of the same name, this is a repository for ideas for things we need and want to make our bikes better (faster, better handling, easier to service or repair, custom parts we all want etc) but no one makes. The big idea is that someone can design the thing and those that want it can club together in a group buy or similar to get it made.

It could be:
- a custom part you want but can't get,
- a new innovative product that doesn't exist,
- a service (e.g. Race Tech mail in your shocks re-valving),
- ideas for tools (have you rigged something up that could be useful for the masses?),
- a hard to find spare part that needs a new production run,
- something else ...

I would like a sight window for checking the oil level on my XR650L. Right now you have to go through a whole procedure depending on whether it's cold or hot to get the oil in the right level in the oil tank in the frame before pulling the dipstick out to check it. There are threads on ThumperTalk of how to make one with some special clear tube and some fittings that screw into the frame. I'll probably do that when I get my engine back together after finding out what happens when it gets too low on oil.

Dry sump engines are more difficult to check oil on.

I would love one for the KTM 990 RC8 LC8 engine too.

FTFY. RC8 is the superbike. LC is the engine denominations used by Katoom

Some inspiration to show this kind of project can get off the ground, these guys raised $380,000 on Kickstarter.
