Sit Stay Ride: The Story of America's Sidecar Dogs.....

I just finished watching the most wonderful documentary film. It's called Sit Stay Ride: The Story of America's Sidecar Dogs. It's beautifully filmed with a good soundtrack and it's the story of people and their dogs and the relationship between them and their common love for riding....in sidecars. I HIGHLY recommend watching it.

And I was surprised to find an old friend I knew for a short time in it as well....JD Whitaker.

Well worth the watch. It's on Amazon Prime.

Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyLw7iYVlo8

Very cool.
Thank You.

I too have met JD a few times.

This, of course, made me immediately recall the times I spent with Ara and Spirit. (RIP Spirit 4/4/18).
They stayed at my place a couple of times and shared rides, good food and interesting conversation.

I noticed that it was dated 2014 so some people may have seen it already. However, it's new to me and I found it while browsing Prime Video for something to watch. It was quite pleasant to watch. I highly recommend it, especially during this time of forced isolation.

Cheers!

Will certainly check this out.
Thanks for the heads-up.
I'll make sure there is room on the couch for our pup when we watch it.:thumbup

I started to read his book but only got about half way through it. Now, I think I can take the time to finish it. Good reminder.

Watched it last night, I've been really interested in getting a Ural anyway and this might swing the vote.

So thanks for costing me money, godammit. :x :laughing :love

I'm with you there Golden Boy!

Been looking for years... but haven't pulled the trigger.
Be sure to get a 2014 or newer. They have disc brakes on all three wheels.

CHEEZ beat me by minutes on a sweet used Ural deal.

We have just lost one of the best Ural dealers in the country here in Santa Clara - Ski at TriQuest has decided to retire and close his business so support will be harder to find going forward. There are very few Ural dealers in the country - most are "other brand" dealers who happen to also sell Urals once in a while, and most are not very knowledgeable about the brand.

If anyone is interested in a 1994 GL1500SE with a sidecar we have ours up for sale. My wife, Sandy, can no longer climb into and out of the sidecar so we're selling it. Once she gets her aftermarket hips installed and working properly we might buy another rig, but it will be a couple of years so we figured someone else can enjoy our outfit rather than letting it sit in the garage for that long.

It was on craigslist last month, with no nibbles. I just checked, and it's still there, although it might disappear sometime today, since it's been up since March 7: Here's the ad

It says "posting expired"
It's such a niche machine. No surprise the response has been slow but there is someone out there that "just absolutely has to have it".
I hope I can help you but if it stays consider it "a sign". Your wife will eventually feel better. Remember, sometimes it's a lot easier to hold on to a motorcycle than it is to replace it later. Everything happens for a reason.

Love the white camo Ural Gear Up, plus that driven outboard wheel makes it a beast off road. That's what I'm leaning towards. Not sure if the limited top speed would be a blessing or a curse. :laughing
The BMW in the movie looked pretty slick, nice and blacked out but that Harley was fucking beautiful.

Well, there's a used 2014 one with under 5000 miles on it in Costa Mesa.
HERE.
They're asking $12,550.

Damn... I'm tempted too!

edit to add...

Here's the Harley Version for you.

Dogs are cool. It seems sidecar rigs and dogs just go together!

I figured it would expire sometime during the day - I just reposted it here

We figured we'd try to sell it, but if it doesn't sell it's no big deal. I'll make sure I start it up regularly, and maybe put a few miles on it every once in a while (it's not much fun riding alone!) just to keep it from deteriorating. All it's costing us is insurance and registration, and some floor space in the garage!

Perhaps put a dog in there to keep the seat warm for your wife.
There's a thread about that around here somewhere. :laughing
