Sheetiron group up/discussion thread

In an effort to avoid cluttering up the official SI thread, I figure I’d start one to address the details of attendance, grouping up and strategies for success.

Feel free to post up your experience, tips, preparation etc.

This will be my 3rd SI. I’ll be riding my venerable xr650L.

I’ll probably do a few rides to build up a little endurance and make sure everything is ship shape on the xrl.

I expect to do mostly the easy splits depending on the route, since on my xrl I prefer to enjoy the scenery more than the wrestling match.

So who’s going?

I'll be there! Would love to share a beer with you again! I'll have the same rig as last year (car, trailer, and the 450 pumpkin).

Taking the afternoon off so I should be there around 230ish. (Or when ever the grounds are open if later than that).

Oh many folks stay at the Motel 6 on Sat night. The prior times I have stayed at the Emerald Dolphin down the road. For anyone on the fence about camping on the beach versus hotel, I would definitely go with the hotel option.

I’ll be taking the day off Friday so see you up there Friday for beers!

I'll be arriving after dinner Friday night in Stonyford and staying at the Motel 6 Saturday night. Not sure what routes I'll ride yet....... or if I do my own routes. That will be a game time audible. Will be on the XR400r.

I'm in. Planning to be up Friday afternoon at the fairgrounds, Motel 6 in Ft Bragg, orange 450, up for any way through depending on how well behaved I am Friday night! I'll probably bring a big stove and my usual Costco Chicken Tika Masala dish to share.

Why is the other thread not appropriate for discussing the details of attendance, grouping up and strategies for success? That sort of discussion was already taking place in there.

Anyway, no matter, I too will be arriving at Stonyford Friday evening and staying at the Motel 6.

Here's a practical question: What roll chart holder should I get? Here are a couple of choices: https://www.motosport.com/search?textsearch=roll chart holder&sf=dirtbike&tracksearch=1 Are there better ones?

I’ll be arriving in Stonyford early afternoon and staying at the Motel 6 in Fort Bragg. I’ll be riding my XR650L, I want to include one hard split but I don’t have any set plan yet.

Be prepared for whatever weather, 2 years ago it rained like hell all the way to Fort Bragg and the next day going through Cow Mountain it was clear and had to be close to 80 degrees. See you guys out there!

Obviously, mate, the one with the "billet" knobs is faster. :)

The moose works fine, bring a tad of tape to attach paper to roller. Allow extra time to screw it up and put in on the wrong way and have to re-roll it. I like how old school the roll chart is. Sort of the same thing as playing old records.

Application in and motel room booked.

Gonna swap to smaller tank and attempt most of the hard splits until I'm tired.

I have several roll chart holders, happy to lend them out.

I ended up with a second one after buying my used rallye tower. I'm gonna load up both, one for each day, so I don't have to attempt to do my roll chart drunk or hung over.

I am IN! Riding the CRF 250 Rally! So stoked. Leaving Friday and can haul gear from East Bay if.anyone needs. Sadly only have room for my bike.
