That seriously needs to be addressed--not being able to see what messages one has sent out to other members is major dysfunction. I know it's configurable based on the following: https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=221221
However, that should really be a default setting for new account signups, terrible run-around with having to look up the fix retroactively. Just my ¢2.
