If you could tell us what kind of bike it is and how it's currently geared, that would help. You could have a moped with a 3.7:1 power to weight ratio. :nerd

The bike in question's geared for 130, wondering if it's to tall, probably better than short.

You will probably be fine. There's only one fast straight at Sears Point and unless you know the track you won't get the drive to come near that. However if it's a Superleggera 2014 you might. Sv no.

Bike in question's a tuned 400. Final drive ratio 2:86. Sprockets are 17/39. Rear tires a 130/80-17. Rev ceiling's 10,000, chain length 100 links. Thanks

You won't get anywhere near 130 mph at Sears Point on that. Maybe 110 before frame flex just destroys your desire to push harder. Sears is not a high speed track.

I raced against RD's on my Norton. They flex. They both flexed :laughing

Another question if I may. What's a decent lap time these days? The track has gone thru a few changes since I last raced.

For vintage, maybe a 2:05, I'd have to look. Again, you won't be going anywhere near "decent lap times" on that. Nice bike, though. FP is hitting 1:39 IIRC.

Are lap times slower today than they were in the 80's due to track configuration. Real hard comparison I understand. We did sub 1:50's back in the day on a fast single.

Huh. When I started racing in 89 2 minutes was considered a fast lap. Today it might be 1:50 or so. There were only a handful of racers in the AFM who went sub 1:50. Vince Mayer dominated singles, IIRC correctly he might have gone 1:56 or so.

The track changes. On that bike you might run a 2:05 but I'd be amazed if you went 2:00. If you haven't ridding track regularly in years, expect more like a 2:15 or 2:20. Nothing personal, just being realistic.

One of those bikes is an RD, the other a Yam single. Which are you bringing?

It's a Rotax. 1:49's on that bike in 83'. Sold to Denny Doherty in 85'. I'm bringing the rd. Rode it in a 750 class and with 250tz's.
Here's a cool old pic. Walt Nitto's the fella behind me on a Moriwaki GPZ in believe in 84'. I really appreciate your help. More track day's are on my bucket list.

And do you have a recommendation on a back protector?

Not really. I still occasionally wear one from the nineties. They make better ones now. Helimot makes my faves. Look forward to seeing on the track.

Looking forward also. Going on a short vacation with the misses and the first will be Thunderhill. I'm thinking this place will be relaxing compared to Sonama.
