Scenic Twisties around Lake Tahoe

Sure I can do a search for what people have asked previously but what fun is that?

This upcoming weekend I'll have two full days to explore the Lake Tahoe area by bike, what are some must do's road wise including any moto friendly eateries? I've done 49 East to 89 a few years ago but that's about it. West Lake Tahoe will be my base.

Thanks in advance!

Ditto on Monitor Pass. It's a great ride.

Around the lake itself, has a lot of traffic, if it's spirited riding your looking for the road around the lake isn't a good choice.

But if it were me, I'd take Hwy 4 Ebbets Pass over the Sierra, then head South toward Hwy 108, then ride back over Sonora Pass, then head South again to Hwy 120 from Sonora and ride over Tioga Pass, then you'll have had some corners.

If you haven't had enough corners....

From Bridgeport (south of Hwy 120 on 395) you can get gas, then ride the previous routes in reverse.

Rode from south shore down 88 a few weeks ago. Was nice till I turned around due to constriction. Blue lake road is only about 14 miles and dead ends at a campground. Great bike road if your passing by(Hope Valley).

Rode up 49/89, nice roads too.

I was just there a couple of weeks ago. Any road that is actually near Lake Tahoe is going to be slow going. Get away from the lake.

I would suggest riding to Downieville. All of the roads anywhere near Downieville are wonderful.

Thanks all for the ideas, esp. 207. I actually did Hwy 4 and 108 last summer and it was killer, I forgot how close Topaz lake is to Tahoe. Looking also to venture around Pyramid Lake, Honey Lake, and Lake Almanor.

PSA, there’s a large, 100-mile endurance horse race, on Saturday, starting about 8 miles south of Truckee, ending near Auburn. Riders and horses from all over the world attend this. Some don’t speak English, some expect traffic from the other direction. Same for the riders. Lol. If you see a horse crossing sign, play smart.

monitor pass feels like a disney ride. Never been on a road with snowcapped mountain peaks that are so close to you, icy lakes right next to the road, sections of granite and nothing else, trees rivers, quaint little mountain towns with oldschool gas pumps... youd think at the very least the road would be gravely or bumpy. Absolutely perfect.

Eldorado forest west of tahoe has a lot of roads. Norcal Butler maps
points them all out. If you can pick one up before your trip it might be worth it to have.

Last Friday, took a lap O' the lake. Kings beach, Tahoe City, Richardson bay, South shore, all had stop & go traffic for miles.
On a Friday! weekend is way worse.
Direction is key I went CCW and avoided Homewood to Tahoe City s&g, Pioneer trail is your friend in South Shore, summer tourists don't know about this.
I would't roll the lake until a week day after labor day.
Hot Aug nites, done, Burning Man, Air races, BBQ, Street Vibes, yet to happen for the Reno area. These events will add to the lake crowd.
Look for cool temps and open road elsewhere with the other offerings.
