San Mateo/Hayward Bridge OPEN

I like to think of it as the place to let you bike run free at the highest speed it will top out at. :laughing

That's if Ya can hit it with no other vehicles on it (I know it's rare, but it does happen).

One of the greatest thrill rides I had was East bound..just about half way up the high rise...When the Loma Prieta Quake hit (and at that moment no other vehicle in sight, as the World series was starting).

There is no ride like that available, without an EarthQuake moving the road build on a bridge structure :ride :wow

^^^ What bike? And as much info on it's set-up that Ya can offer.

Did the skerred, seem to be linier? like just kept growing? And was there something, in particular, that was a skerr/concern?

It is uber bumpy now, Eastbound, by the area that eases to the right, and I do not like the seams that look like fingers locked together. They look like they can puncture straight into my front tire and send me to lala ouchola land... :x

Umm, More power, Loft the front wheel, so it isn't on the ground when you pass over the expansion joint. :thumbup
And put a Scotts damper on that thing :laughing

Piece a cake, just get a first gen, ZX-10, put street handlebars on it, paint over the Kawasaki name and apply a Bonneville logo...The wheelies are automatic (you can thank me later) :thumbup :ride

I'm so old, I remember when...

Teddy points out correctly: San Mateo is also a county...

Traq asserts: Yes, and? The bridges aren't named after the counties they connect.

FYI-The bridge pre-dates the incorporation of Foster City.

westie complains: It should be called the Hayward Bridge since the toll booth is on our side.

Sorry, the tolls are placed for y'all to drop coin upon leaving 510/925 land. The price the hoi polloi must pay to visit the peninsula. :cool

What, specifically, is the formula for naming bridges then? There is none, they call it what they want.........:twofinger

I was simply pointing out that while the bridge might not end on the west side in the city of San Mateo it still most certainly hits land in San Mateo (county)...that is all. I'm just entertianing myself and chuckling as I type this, please don't take it personally!

Glad to see they are ahead of schedule.....was a pain in the azzz getting over the BB last weekend...

Here's a plan, It could start with an "insider" of one (1) and see if it grows...

If you're East bound, it's the Hayward bridge, because that's where you're going..

If your West bound, it's the San Mateo bridge (for tradition sake)

If someone can't identify the bridge, from either name...:rofl

Yes, and? It also predates the east touchdown being incorporated in to Hayward.

None of the 7 state owned toll bridges are named after counties. Only 2 aren't named after cities they're near/connect.

My original reply was tongue in cheek following Westie's silly one. Then Teddy stepped in throwing his dick around like this was all serious and shit so I replied in kind. And now you're white knighting him. :rolleyes

You do know it's codified in law, right?

Aprox 250 buisness days a year, I work from home one day a week, so that extra day would go toward random bridge crossings for weekends times $5 a pop = $1,250 a year from just me. How about we name it the ClusterFuckBridge? CFB for short? If the $ were actually going into the bridge/roadways, it would be immaculate. Oh, wait, then giving directions would get confusing cuz they would all be named thusly. :p
