re: SFMC 110th Rally

Good times indeed. A few of us split off for a couple of impromptu stops and enjoyed playing catch up - O.G. "City Tour" style. :twofinger Found myself in a couple of those pics but sorry that I never found you, John! Maybe one Thursday soon...

Cheers~

Thanks to John Myers for taking these wonderful pics of our 110th Anniversary celebration, and thanks to all the BARFers and other San Francisco motorcycle people who came to our party, and to the Yonkers, Pasadena, Oakland and other sweater clubs that also attended ...

See you at our 115th Anniversary Party, or at the Dirt Bag Challenge ...

And, of course, if you like motorcycles and live in or near San Francisco, the SFMC is your
motorcycle club ...

see you around the campfire,

I saw the red bike and told the owner that it was gorgeous. :love

I met the guy with the Duc at Coyote Coffee (AWESOME BARF SPONSOR!). He's very nice and his bike is awesome. The sexy DL650 next to the Duc is mine. :teeth

OK, here's one last pic, taken by my friend Ryan, that I think
captures the spirit of of my motorcycling experience, anyway, here in
San Francisco, with BARF and ADV and the DBC and the SFMC ...

That's our Road Captain, Ben, on his bumblebee FZ1 on the left, the gal with the
pink goggles is on a California Giro vintage bike, and Brian is on his DR-Z ... covering
all the motorcycle bases ... :ride

Here's a link to Ryan's blog with pics from the110th:

Flood damage repairs ...

IMG_3157
by San Francisco Motorcycle Club, on Flickr

We got slammed by the by the December 2014 storms that caused
flooding along Folsom Street in the inner Mission ...

The city has been working with us and with the other businesses
along the 1200 block of Folsom to help repair damage to
buildings in that area ...

Here is a pic of the clubhouse stripped of the nice hardwood floor we
installed when we converted the old blacksmith shop into
a club house ...

We found some evidence of the previous owner's business down in the foundation ...

... and a couple of pics of what the place looked like in 1947,
when we purchased it ...

see you 'round the corner,

Now that's Bitchen. :thumbup
Even more interesting is how the truck and bike blend with the same colors as the CycleGear sign in the background.

Hey Papi,

Super-bitchen! :thumbup
Didn't notice the CycleGear color-coordination ... :laughing

good luck on the salt in '15,

Damn, I didn't know SFMC got flooded. Is it just the floor that got damaged?
I'm completely out of touch with everything in SF since moving to Petaluma.
Not that I don't like it here.. :)

Hey johnk,

Pretty much just the floor, but we'll get to look at our suspect
foundation while we're at it ... the phrase "Pandora's Box" is being
bandied about ... :laughing

Hope the house is coming along well! :thumbup

Hey guys,

Oh well, here's the heartbreak ... Our floor in early October 2014, just four months ago,
when it was being restored by Jack Young, the son of the SFMC member who installed
the floor in 1947 ...

Jack is helping us replace the floor, too, and he's confident he'll
bring it back in all its former glory! :thumbup

BVBC, Mariposa Boat Club & DNA Lounge ...

So, if you feel that it would be strange to walk into
a motorcycle club because you watched too many
Hollywood biker movies as a kid or too much
Sons of Anarchy recently, now is your chance to
check out a SFMC meeting at some cool authentic
"old-San Francisco" venues, where we
are all guests ...

20150322-003436.jpg

Since our flood and tearing up our clubhouse
for flood-damage repairs we've been holding most of
our Thursday night meetings at
the Bay View Boat Club, a neat place
just south of the Giants ball park on the
south side of China Basin ...

20150322-003359.jpg

On the third Thursday of the month we're usually at the
Mariposa Hunters Point Yatch Club, a stone's throw closer
to AT&T Park ...

On occasion we also meet once in a while
at the venerable DNA Lounge ...

As is usual with construction projects
we're in the "no-end-in-sight" stage of
the rehab, so if you are tired of the $7 domestic
beer scene in the City and want to
check out some other super-cool city clubhouses with
less Roger Corman baggage, think of us
some Thursday night during our 111 year
of operation ...

We had everything from an early '70s Honda
CB 200 to a late-model MV Agusta triple at the last
meeting (both
ridden by one of our four new prospective
members ... the 200 by our latest woman
prospect (she's an enduro racer who rides the
little Honda in from Mill Valley!)) ... (our newest member is a female rider,
too ...)

Anyway, see you around
the greatest motorcycle city
in the universe, :ride

Harold's vs Mauds ...

20150508-203427.jpg

We had a ride on Saturday, 5/9/15, meeting at Red's Java Hut for 1985 bikes and earlier ...
Late model bikes met at the Pier 23 Grill ... it was this year's version of Mods vs Rockers,
a venerable, authentic San Francisco motorcycle and scooter happening ...

We had a BBQ afterwords at the firehouse parking lot across from the Homestead at
19th and Folsom that Tony was nice enough to secure for us ...

So, it was a beautiful day to ride your vintage bike in the city, if riding your vintage
bike is your thing ...

A few pics I took at the BBQ at the firehouse ...

Tuesday May 19th Jay Leno's Garage TV Show is filming a segment on the San Francisco Motorcycle Club, our history, our famous members and he wants to go for a ride with ALL our friends.

Please meet at the SFMC (2194 Folsom Street) at 11 am. We'll be Kickstands up at 12:30-ish for a 30-45 minute ride around SF planned by our Road Captain.

All bikes are welcome and remember Jay really loves old iron. This would be a great excuse for you to bring it out to play!

*The Clubhouse will NOT be open to the public due to our on going re-construction project*
