I got to see a flock of P-51s earlier today; how those Merlins hum.

Now there's a very fast and VERY loud fighter (F-22?) tearing around and having a ball.

I wish I had kept my tickets this year (gave 'em to neighbors), but I am catching quite a bit from my yard.

The gathering of P-51's was pretty damn cool.

The gathering of P-51's was pretty damn cool.

I saw one that's usually not there @ the Sonoma airport in Shellville Saturday.....I can only presume it was headed your way.
"Pretty damn cool" is absolutely right.
Now if I could just get myself near a Corsair! (personal favorite airplane...largely due to Greg "Pappy" Boyington)

Mmmm, P38

Last time I saw one fly, Lefty Gardner tagged a fence post with a wingtip at the Reno air races.

But yea, them '51's sure sound good ripping the sky with them 12 bangers.

I watched the show on Saturday from the end of runway 26; base leg and final approach right overhead. Aaaaand it didn't cost a thing. No latrines, shade, food, drinks - just airplanes overhead and the occasional tractor going down the road. Good times! I have found my spot for next year! Taking a piss was a challenge though. :rolleyes

Great pics, Johndicezx9!

I wish I had seen the P-38.

Was it the F-22 making all that noise? My neighbor and his family (to whom I gave my tickets) are fans, but terrible at IDing aircraft.

Yes, the F-22 would "quietly" sneak up on the crowd (Doppler Effect?) and then blast'em to the core...

I was happy to see the P-38, always loved the look of the 'Fork Tailed Devil'... just bad-ass. The T-33 flying in the one pic was pretty cool, a reminder of the early days of the jet age.

I may not have gone had I not scored the tickets I did, but next year I'll try harder, the T-Birds are returning. :thumbup
