Route suggestions : End of Yellowstone to Modesto

Greetings

I would like to get input from riders who have done the ride. Please please please, riders who have done the route.

Planning the trip home from the west end of Yellowstone and want to minimize the dead zone desert areas.

We have 2 days to come from Boise or Twin Falls to home. I really want to avoid as much as possible that desert zone in east Oregon and north Nevada (80). Looks like I have to go through some desert but would like minimize the crappy areas. Any suggestions on the best route to take as well as an idea how long it would take to make that route?

I'd like the route to be as pleasant and leisurely. Its a possibility to extend the time to 3 days depending on the route.

Any hotels along the way you have been to that are clean/cheap?

You can PM or call if there is a big story.

I did this route (Quincy, CA to Craters of the Moon, ID) over two days last summer (link). The mountains northeast of Boise are decent fun and very scenic. 20 in eastern Oregon looks fun, but it's not. From Boise to Alturas is basically flat desert, very boring. I kind of doubt there's a better route through Nevada, though. Maybe book it straight across Oregon on 20 and then meander south through the mountains all the way to I-80...

Find the twist roads on Google Maps. Then drop the little man down on them to check them out.
