I don't think I ever watched an episode of L&S. I remember David from a 1970s LA comedy group called the Credibility Gap that also included Michael McKean and Harry Shearer. They were occasionally on the radio and annually did a hilarious play-by-play of the Rose Parade. I found a couple of their comedy recordings on YouTube, but most haven't aged very well. Here, though, is a timeless classic from the Gap with Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and David L. Lander:
