The last surviving member of the classic Dave Brubeck Quartet, Eugene Wright has reached the final bar. Bassist on EVERY classic Brubeck album from 1958. Time Out, Angel Eyes, etc., the tunes Take 5, Blue Rondo ala Turk, Koto Song, 40 Days, all have his sound and his drive.

Seems like a life well lived and as a member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet a major player in bringing jazz main stream. I’ll have to pay my respects with a Time Out session. Good riddance to 2020.
