RIP: Charlie Pride

Eye Heart Pasta

Erik changed my life
:rip

Dude was my mother’s favourite singer :rip

Not my mom's favorite singer (that was Conway Twitty*), but Charley was always in the rotation on road trips and around town.

*Yes, I was able to sing along to EVERY Family Guy CT cutaway joke.

A month ago, he performed at the CMAs. Now, he's gone....

He was/is one of my favorite male country singers, with Don Williams (RIP) being my favorite...

CP songs that I grew up on through KSAN and KNEW:
Roll On Mississippi
You're My Jamaica
Mississippi Cotton Picking Delta Town
Hope You're Feeling Me Like I'm Feeling You
Is Anyone Goin' to San Antoine?
Burgers and Fries
Mountain of Love
Night Games
Never Been So Loved in All My Life

I liked what he did for baseball, too. (I'm mostly talking about the interviews that he did related to baseball, his experiences in the Negro League and his discussion of Black American baseball players in the MLB, since I've never seen any footage of his playing.)

I wonder how many of those singers/people at that November 11, 2020 CMA Awards show now have Covid. In that video that I watched of his performance, he looked healthy. Lively and healthy.

I didn't see anyone wearing a mask. Yea, they were doing social distancing in terms of the tables, but no masks, and a lot of the folks were not sitting/standing by themselves, but rather were with at least one other person or within a group of people.

Nashville (the country music establishment, not the city) is not the kind to spill its beans, so we'll never know...Sigh...

P.S. I thought that someone would put up a post when Olivia de Havilland died on July 26, 2020, but no one did. So, I'll add that RIP here. She was 104.
