I honestly can't think of a role he played that I didn't like. Some of them may not have been super-serious-award-winning-roles but he always took them to their limit and seemed to enjoy himself thoroughly doing it.

I always liked the guy. Good looking with a healthy dose of self effacing humor.
Lonnie Anderson certainly sucked the life out of him though. He should have hooked up with Sally.

get it while it's easy
weird, but i watched smokey and the bandit on tv recently. no idea why, but it was super fun. sporting a porn star ‘stash, the dude was cute, funny, and seemed like he would be really fun to hang out with. am sorry to hear of his passing.

Spot on assessment of him.

He was down right a bad ass. I have a friend who recently flew him on a charter, and told me he wasn't the typical celeb. Came up front, wanted to see how everyone was doing, took a few pictures with the guys and gave a healthy tip.

Even off screen he was apparently pretty fun.

He was kind of before my time but I liked Cannonball Run.

Going to be honest, my first thought was whether or not he was the last in the rule of threes with McCain and Aretha Franklin being the other two, or if he was the first and we are going to lose 2 more great actors/actresses soon.

Second thought was that I am kind of OK when old famous people die because I figure we probably have gotten what we need from them...

He did his own stunts, he started his career as a stunt man and never stopped doing them when he was a star.
