Anybody else notice Schwantz's absence from COTA?
I thought for sure he'd be the first to congratulate Rins on his win. I saw no trace of him at all on BeIN's broadcast. Was he even at the event?

Schwantz was at the track all weekend. The MotoGP stream showed him congratulating Rins after the race.

I heard him commenting quite a bit, even talking about Rin’s team thinking he was capable. Might have been Saturday during qualifying and he also was on the podium giving a trophy but what race escapes me.

Yep, he was there...
Kevin goes to the CMRA races here in Texas often.
It's not a surprise anymore to turn around and BAM, Kevin is right there next to you looking at what you are doing... at the pits during the endurance races... :teeth
He is a super nice guy, and very humble too.
We both have black labs :cool

Whatever that means
I got to shake hands with him. Was neat! I felt like I was faster for a brief moment.

Also got Rins and Muirs Autograph on a hat on Saturday, wore in on the race day and I felt cool wearing the right hat while everyone else was wearing rossi and marquez stuff.

Thanks.

I thought it odd if he hadn't been there. I only saw footage of the Moto GP race on BeIN and didn't watch the Moto 2 or 3 (yet).

I too met him in '98 and saw him at events throughout the years. I'm tall and he gave me advice on how to get my Yamaha turned, explaining that he "was lucky because Suzuki built the bike around him". If I ever did sit down with him again (Sport Bike Night, Sacramento, 1998), I'd probably ask him why he's (said to be) so fond of Argentina and what his thoughts on Brazil are. I loved Brazil and Jacarepagua.
