Redwood Burger N00bie Ride - Sunday, Nov. 11, 1 PM

Adverse Selection
N00bie ride, Burger to Burger via Redwood Road.

What is it?
It's an introductory ride for new riders on Redwood Road (East Bay), meaning the pace will speed limit-ish - which on Redwood is pretty slow. The point being to show newer riders the ropes involved in doing group rides on twisty roads. You know; speed, line, looking where you want to go, and not fucking with the other riders.

When?
Meet up at 1 PM

KSU?
Kickstands up at 1:15 PM

Where?
The Habit parking lot on Redwood Road in Castro Valley (more room in this lot than in the Peet's lot that's more traditional), 3650 Village Dr, Castro Valley, CA 94546. From there we will ride north on Redwood bound for Sparky's. See? It's a burger ride! :drool

I'll ride back to CV, if you want to come along, otherwise you're on your own once we get to Sparky's.

Setting Expectations:
  • Show up with enough fuel to do at least 50 miles. There's a Chevron station by Sparky's, but no other fuel en route.
  • Gear - wear it or go home. Helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, moto pants, etc.
  • As mentioned earlier, this is a speed limit-ish pace, no passing, it's all about being a newbie introduction
  • If you're an experienced rider, and want to help, you're welcome, with the caveat that the ride and the pace are n00b friendly. If you want to go fast, this isn't your ride.
  • The duration will be short, probably 30 to 45 minutes from one burger joint to the next.

Dude that's the same day as Dirtbag in Oakland. :(

That's okay, you're not a newb, and most folks who go to Dirt Bag aren't newbs either. If a newb would rather go to that, more power to them. This is when I have time.

what a n00b
Hmmmmm...burger before and burger after???

I'll probably join in the fun. Started riding this past Dec, and since logged over 20,000mi, so I'm a noob with a twist. Can also share experience of my first accident, that happened three days ago. Spoiler alert, I'm 100% fine, not even a bruise.

Sparky's is GREAT! Order the curly fries, milk shakes to go along with any of their burgers. Gas station is right there too!

  • I don't know for sure, but I doubt it.
  • Did you read the into? Noobie pace, no overtaking, which means no crossing the DY.

Thanks all for a great time and it was nice to just chill and talk over milk shakes!

And thanks again Kurt for taking the time to introduce folks to group riding!
