Recent Forum Lag

I've only very recently noticed the forum loading up slowly each time I try to either scroll down a page using my mouse wheel or simply opening a new tab - only in Firefox....Chrome loads everything up just fine.

I also heard about a recent vB exploit being launched upon a number of certain forums over the past week or two as well and couldn't help but to wonder if either BARF or I had gotten infected in some way.

Did BARF change anything recently that may be causing this....or is this on my side? Thanks.

On my new phone it has been taking 30sec or more to load pages on barf. Every other site has been normal...

I've noticed this too, been meaning to take some packet captures and time requests.

It's specific to the BARF and follows me between providers.

Okay, got off my ass and dug into it.
It's big-boards again:

Or occasionally they decide to respond, and give us a SERVFAIL:

big-boards is a forum visitor tracking service that BARF uses.

Sadly, it's DNS servers disavow all knowledge of www.big-boards.com, so the invisible image they use to solicit connections from individual browsers, never loads.

Rest of the page does, so it displays, but your browser will sit there and chug since there's an item on the page it can never load...

Unless, your DNS resolvers still have www.big-boards.com cached.

Go off & get a cup of coffee or something & come back...THEN it's done.

If I understand it right you should be able to add that big board address to your DNS address list and it should be ok right?

Big boards went zombie about a year back, stopped responding to my emails and whatnot. Just recently they went tits-up and shut down. I removed their shit, so things should have improved.

Yet another reason I fucking hate having 3rd party script/images/etc on a site, because then your site relies on them not going to hell (Yeah, I'm looking at YOU google).

If GA goes offline, a whole lot of sites aren't going to load. I think you're okay there.
