Man if that guy didn't sell that bike I'm going to be heartbroken for you.

Me too, but id of been that one guy who snaked it from under you.
This is definitely a big big score Rick. I'm happy for you!:teeth:thumbup

I think Marc is the same guy that tried to buy my RVF last year. Glad to see another one in the area has a street RVF. I think we should all do a grey market ride together some day. I'm down in San Jose.

My wife and I were talking a few weeks ago about my RVF. She'd been under the impression that I was going to paint my CF Tyga bodywork with the stock livery, and was surprised when I said I was going to stick with the Edwards/Rossi CABIN scheme. My bike is... uh, modified. A bit. I have weird ideas about what's important to keep stock (for example, the mud guard) and what's not (the subframe), but my bike is definitely not ever going to represent Soichiro's original product. Anyway, we got to talking about it, and I mentioned that these days the only bike I actually desire is... another RVF. I've got a couple of VFRs and a Hawk GT but what I really want is a 100% original RVF400 to sit alongside my modified toy. She told me that if I ever saw one for sale with a plate, it would be something she'd have a hard time trying to talk me out of, at basically any price.

Rick, at $4500, I probably wouldn't have told her in advance. She'd have just gotten a "big transaction" alert from the bank and a selfie. :)

I don't think Rick got it for $4.5K. I think he was relaying the history and Marc paid $4.5K for it. If it's the same Marc that approached me about my bike, there's no way he'd sell that bike for $4.5K. I'm going to venture (depending on back fees and mileage) that it went for around $6.5K.

We go into his large well-equipped cabinetry shop and there she is. Sitting quietly in the dimly lit garage. Me = grinning idiot. It's real and gorgeous.

This alone is worth it.

Even if it turns in to the rusting, never starting, never ridden, garage stain money pit from hell, it won't, but even if it did, this alone is worth it.

We live in amazing times, surrounded by amazing people, and beauty, and amazing things.

Even then, sometimes, we take them for granted. The practical side seizes us,a what if whispers in your ear, or we "listen to somebody".

But moments like this, in this moment, they're pure. They're rare, but they're pure. Childlike. Relish and embrace it for just this.

Many of us are smiling with you.

I was like this when I got my VFR. It was real, and gorgeous.

:laughing I'm with you on that.

$4500 was what the seller paid when he bought it in 2000.

:laughing Wazoo, that's funny. Just yesterday my wife grilled grilled me about a "surprise" $18 bookstore purchase she saw on the bank statement. Nothing gets by her.

So heading out to lunch I ask coolest wife evuh wherever she wants to go we go. She's from Taiwan. Food is her thing. It's her porn. Reals.

Since we never come out to these parts of the valley she checks her "must dine at" list and finds a place that was recommended by her sisters at the foodie version of BARF. I have my thing she has hers. It's all good.

Decent eats, friendly staff, too fusion for me. Maybe I ordered wrong. Not coming back unless I get an RVF in return :gsxrgrl Lunch done. She now want's me to schlep her over to Japan town. Of course, anything you want babe. 20 minutes later I watch her exit the tofu shop with three tubs of fresh silky soybean and she's grinning ear to ear. So cool we all have a "bliss".

Time to text Marc and see what's up...
12:58 Me: "Done with lunch. Jessica got her tofu. what is your schedule looking like?"

13:06 Marc: "Closer to 2:00/2:15."

Fork me! Too good to be true! I feel like I am fishing and just waiting to sink the hook.

13:14 Me: "perfect. in j town now. heading to mv in 10 min"

13:22 Marc: "I'm loading the bike now heading out in 20"

13:42 Me: "at house"

13:49 Marc sends a photo and my heart skips a beat......

WTF?? Japanese porn wrapped in Hitchcock suspense!

Sorry to be dragging this out but I find the search half the fun esp. since I had been searching for so long and to randomly stumble upon a CA registered one so local, it was meant to be.

As an interesting premonition or hallucination, on a stack of bibles I swear I saw an NC35 flash by in rush hour traffic two days before I bought mine: 4/13/17 Palo Alto on El Camino near Arastradero, 5pm, southbound. What are the odds.

Waiting for Marc's permission to post pics.

A small part of me is disappointed every time I buy a motorcycle, because then the search is over. :(

That was probably me. I commute on El Camino sometimes from Palo Alto.

The wait is over

"It's here!", Jessica exclaims from the front window. We head out to welcome Santa and watch while he expertly parks his sleigh in front of the house (at least for me, parking a trailer way harder than it looks). Photo session ensues. Jessica looks as excited as me :thumbup

We gingerly roll the bike down and park it on the neglected driveway (as cracked as Marvel's the Thing). NC35 v. repave = no contest. The eagle has landed. On my property. Baby has a new home! FINALLY! :party

We enjoy talking to Marc for a long while exchanging stories and ideas. Cool gy for sure. We wrap up - cash, title, parts (mirror were found!). Shake hands and mug it up for the camera! Both parties mutually satisfied. The bike has found a good new home. We wave goodbye.

I wheel the bike into the garage, plop down on the stool and admire. Acquisition complete it feels great. A mixture of calm having reeled in my prized fish. A big sigh or relief.

What's next? Now I have to revive her and I don't know where to begin. So many questions which need answers. I know, I'll search BARF the world's great source of all things motorcycle (and beyond) related.

She was probably just wondering what kind of a man she married buying stuff from a bookstore.
