Ralph Nader is out of his right mind

Edit: Forget my attempts at quoting below, thanks to BARFer Thee See 5 we have the actual video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkoB4r9FSzY

Just now (7 minutes ago) on live TV (Fox News) Ralph Nader in an interview with Shepard Smith asked the question of whether Barack Obama was going to play the part of Uncle Sam or Uncle Tom.

Stunned, Smith asked Nader if he was kidding or if he really just compared President Elect Obama with Uncle Tom.

Nader's response was (he meant) that Obama had to answer the question of whether he would be Uncle Sam or Uncle Tom and went on a rant about politicians pandering to corporate corruption.

After the rant, Smith asked, "Don't you wish you would have used a phrase other than Uncle Tom?"

Nader said, "Not at all."

Interview ended right then and there. After the commercial break a female reporter remarked that Nader just ended his own political career with his comment.

I don't normally watch Fox News and was channel flipping for election coverage. I'm sure this will be all over YouTube in a matter of hours.

Still, I wish I had been at my computer to type the abomination down word for word as it fell out of Nader's mouth. He needs to be put down like a lame horse. :thumbdown

(moderators please don't merge this thread with Election Rezizzles as it has more to do with a racist greenie nutball than actual election results - thx)

Last time I watched Fox News was during hurricane Katrina and I wasn't in control of the remote. Swear to God. :laughing

A classic case of a man who let his ego cloud his ideals. I'd be voting for Nader if he wasnt such a megalomaniac.

I have always hated Nader due to his stance on nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is what put food on the table growing up.

Actually, Nader is more correct than you think Alicia. The irony I see here is we elected the first Black President who will have to govern at the behest of the Senate/Congress...both controlled by White folk. The irony is so thick....

had we elected McCain, it would be no different...but make no mistake, Congress/ Senate controls the US government now...not the White House. He will either be their boy or be castigated, IMO. We'll see what happens...

THANK YOU Thee See 5 - I've been searching on YouTube and Fox News for any quotes from the interview. Much appreciated.

Holeshot, note that Nader did not mention Congress' involvement at all, rather he likens Obama to a toady for corporate powers, fascist and communist regimes takin all our JAWWRRRBS! :rant

Ater seeing the interview do you still think Nader is correct in what he said, as he said it?

Nader has been slowly coming unglued for the last 20 years or so.

Which is why, even in his role as a fake libertarian, my protest vote went to Barr this year. But, voting for the crazy Lebanese guy was strangely appealing.

(Hey, I'm in Arizona, and there's no way McCain was going to lose his home state, so might as well protest vote.)

That said, Nader's comments disappoint me a lot less than the results on CA-8 and AZ-102 so far.

I see nothing wrong with Nader's comments.

That's what gets to me......everyone is supposed to be so PC nowadays.

So he's black, big deal.
Nader didn't mean it to be a racist comment. Everyone tries to make a big deal out of nothing.....

Nader said Obama will have to choose between being the people's hero or being a slave to corporate America. The reason people are pissed off about it? He did it using an analogy in which Uncle Sam (white guy) is the hero and Uncle Tom (black guy) is subservient to White American authority figures. The phrase Uncle Tom itself was apparently never meant as a derogatory term, but many people see it that way, and it was a retarded thing for Nader to say. And the fact that he didn't admit it means he doesn't give a rat's ass about the public's opinion of him. So why the fuck is even running for Prez? What a moron.

Oh Ralph no :shame

I watched it live last night and I was like :wtf ...

"To put it very simply, he is our first African American president; or he will be. And we wish him well. But his choice, basically, is whether he's going to be Uncle Sam for the people of this country, or Uncle Tom for the giant corporations."

I know what you're saying but dude, there are so many other ways you could have gotten your point accross.

I at least had some respect for the man. L 8
