Race numbers on street bikes

As far as I know yes. Just have the other basics required and sport you number.

My bostrom Ducati came with 155 stock.

Darwin's exception
I used to commute on the Bay Bridge M-F on my F4I that I was racing in the CCS series on the weekend. Sunday night I would swap a stock upper back on along with a plate and tail light. Couldnt afford a track only bike at the time.
Actually a pretty funny conversation on the old AFM list about it and my bike with race tail and numbers on it .......:laughing

The other reason I asked:

My CBR100RR was supposed to be track only, but I like it too much to only use it half a dozen times a year ... I'm going to Laguna Seca in a couple of weeks and numbers are required. My bike is black and white (bought from an ex cop) and inspires thoughs of "police bike": the last track day I did, the photographer labelled my pics "CBR1000 Popo" lol.

So I'm not quite brave enough to put on the number 911, because I figure that would have cops pulling me over constantly. But I bought 999, since that is the emergency number in Britain, and it's bound to make a few Brits giggle.

That's a Ducati number. People will think you're a Ducati wannabe.

Turn those numbers upside down and you should be good. :thumbup

I once got caught w/my racebike on the street. Got half-dozen fix-it tickets for various things. Officer noticed number plates, but said "those are not illegal or I'd ticket you for that too." :x

I don't know of anyone foolish enough to do something like that...

An earlier daily driver of mine was even more obnoxious than my Ghia here! Lol!

There was a guy on the local roads that sported a #7 plate on his bike, and tried to suck other riders into following him. The guy was an ahole, and I'm glad that I haven't seen him for a while.

With that said...Perhaps instead of dealing with if it's illegal or not, maybe the more practical question could be if numbers on your bike might prompt you to get pulled over quicker (to check for other things) than if you didn't have them on at all?:afm199

perhaps; my running a full-on racebike w/slicks, no baffle, & all might have had something to do w/it. Lived in CV at the time & was racing AFM 750cc SS/FII. Bike was loud, nasty, & I'm sure attracted attention.

Living just South of CVB means I had to cross CV Blvd. to get to Redwood Road for testing (few days leading up to a race.) Jetting changes, suspension, you know...:teeth

The danger zone was crossing CVB each time to get to my own personal test track. Only had to avoid the CHiPies/ALCO Sheriff's crossing the Blvd. & I was home free from there..:ride

My race bike is my street bike, but I remove the numbers for street riding because it draws attention to me;).

I feel like in my head there is some knowledge of racing numbers not being allowed on street vehicles. How & where I heard this, I don't know. But, considering I've always thought it was kinda poseur-ish (unless your vehicle is a race vehicle), I never looked into it. Ultimate point being, I think it's a legitimate question & not surprising some folks would question whether they should or not.

I am lazy and don't want to add another thing to my list every track day. Spooning slicks on and off every time is enough for me :)

I have passed many a LEO with my #8 (Berryessa GP) and haven't been pulled over. Although they definitely notice me :laughing

I think having stock mirrors and signals and plate helps too
