Question regarding title (selling Bike)

Hello All,

Going to be selling my well sorted WR250f :( . However, I cannot find the darn title anywhere in my safe or in my vehicle records after a recent move. I am the registered owner, address is current with DMV, I have registration and green sticker (current June 2020) and in my name.

My question: Is it best to fill out a duplicate title form Reg 227, wait for title, then sell? Or have the new owner fill out the other portion of Reg 227 and the new title sent to the new owner.

Thanks!

It is best in my opinion to have the new title in hand before selling the bike. File the reg 227 and get the new title , then sell the scoot. I have past up / walked away from many good deals on bikes that didn’t have the titles on hand.

Exactly my thoughts in the buyers shoes. With my luck I'll file the reg 227 and find the old title the day after :laughing

What year and how much?

For me, if it doesn't have a title or current registration/non op, I wouldn't give it much thought about buying it. It'd have to be dirt cheap to even consider if at all. Too risky and especially with the fees. Now if I needed a bike solely for riding in places or events that do not need a sticker, then it would be different.

If its a 15+ I'm interested!

I just sold a car with the exact same scenario it went pretty smooth with the DMV form. Missing title/transfer all in one.

You can pay an extra $15 to get the title expedited...

Dmv
Spu/rush title, MS-D238
2415 First Avenue
Sacramento CA 95818

$37 dolar check
Registration card
2 forms of ID
CHANGE OF ADDRRSS FORM
APPLICATION DUPLICATE TITLE

ReG156 application change of stickers $22

I only know this because my title got lost and had to apply for a reissue but agree with everyone else... buying something without a title raises too many red flags on my end...
