Question for versys owners.

[H.D.30-06]

What else do you have to remove to get to the regulator rectifier? It's located kinda half under the battery box half under the tank. Of course the connection port is pointed towards the center of the bike and I can't get my fat fingers in there to pull the wiring off to check the stator output. Do I have to pull the tank or battery box?.
I've tried the versys forums, Google , YouTube. Nothing came up.

On nearly every bike I've ever owned, the first thing you did was remove the fuel tank before trying to get to anything else.

Is it really that hard to take the tank off to find out?
