Question about insurance out of state

tr/dr-When riding out-of-state, must I ride wearing a helmet to appease my California insurance policy.

When I road coast-to-coast last summer, assume there were opportunities to ride helmetless along the way.

If at all, would I need to consider that my insurance originates in this state? Am I obligated to ride with a helmet for adherence to my insurance policy? Don't remember seeing any points of such reference, but must admit only a cursory review of boilerplate legal lingo doesn't always find such as I am asking here.

If you're obeying the law of the state you're in, I don't see how your insurance could complain.

But with that out of the way, why would you want to ride without a helmet? I live in a state where I'm not required to wear a helmet, but I won't ride at all without one, or gloves, or a decent jacket. I've scraped up the front of two different helmets and do not want to know what my face would look like if I hadn't been wearing a helmet at the time. I will not ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

Scott-

Numerous reasons. One in particular. Diagnostics. Harley rattles. Often difficult to discern what the clatter is all about. No helmet, better hearing. Which led to me finally discovering the strange sound I heard at during deceleration was the loose chrome around the ignition switch on top of gas tank. Could not discern with a helmet of any kind on my head.

But I understand, riding is safer with a helmet on. So is not riding. There are times I long to exercise both rights of freedom.

Do agree about gloves. ;)

Here's an idea. Ride a bike that doesn't rattle itself to death so you can wear a helmet so your family won't have to change your diaper and wipe the spittle off your chin.

If your insurance contract with your insurer requires that you wear a helmet...

The local State law where you are riding is irrelevant to you being insured...

Yes, it was a question asked to determine the rate. If you wear the helmet always, sometimes, rarely, never...

If you said always, your rate was lower.
Well, cool.

What insurance company was that? Allstate only wants to know make, model, and year of motorcycle.
