California State Parks Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division administrates a grant program which has provided significant funding to help operate Santa Clara County's Motorcycle Park. The program provides funding for well managed off-highway vehicle recreation. It supports the maintenance, operation, and enforcement associated with the use of off-highway motor vehicles, and helps fund programs involving off-highway motor vehicle safety or education.

Santa Clara County Parks has submitted our preliminary application to the state OHV division. The 30-day public review and comment period for the Grants and Cooperative Agreement Program begins March 5, 2013, and ends April 1, 2013. This period provides an opportunity for the public to review the preliminary applications submitted to the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division for consideration during the current grant cycle. If you would like to view our preliminary application, please go to: www.ohv.parks.ca.gov

After viewing our grant application, if you would like to make a public comment you may do so by emailing christian.elliott@prk.sccgov.org and copying the OHMVR Division at OHVinfo@parks.ca.gov Please be certain to copy the OHMVR Division as this is the only way comments will be received by California State Parks.

just sent:
Please fund this important park. I have been many places in my 40 plus years of dirtbike riding and though small, Metcalf is really great.

I have been riding there since it opened in the seventies, and enjoy it now more than ever. I must say a lot of other people are enjoying it too, as the parking lot is packed. And despite the crowds, the trails and not congested, and I rarely see injuries. The single track trails are challenging and entertaining, and frankly, a great workout.

The popularity of the park, the visitorship and the lack of incidents are a tribute to what a great job the rangers are doing. Combined with their understanding of how properly laid out and maintained trail actually helps erosion control, the rangers are doing an outstanding job.

I go there two or three times a month. I am going there today…
