just slapped the soa fairing on today, im sure i'll catch alot of slack for it, but hey when someone says its a soa bike wannabe , oh yeah well your harley without the fairing is a wild hogs wannabe id rather be a soa wannabe lol

but the main purpose of it was the wind, coming from sportbikes i never know how bad the wind was w/o fairing lol, with this there is no wind!!

anyone else have a harley or a metric cruiser post up!

for what it is, its good enough. I use to have a 2005 r1 and lets say the harley impresed me for what it is.

the sportster is a very small light bike, so you can feel that vtwin torque

if your comparing the speed to a sport bike there two different machines for two different purposes

i had to decide between a 48 and my nightster, and the 48 with its 2.1 gallon tank was the deal breaker, your going nowhere with a 2.1 gallon tank lol, and sure ppl switch out the tanks but thats the cool thing about the 48 lol

I wouldn't be buying a 48 to do anything but cruise local so mileage is not an issue. Besides, 3.3 vs 2.1 doesn't make that big of a difference when you're talking about an engine that gets conservatively 40MPG average. Another 40 miles plus or minus 2 or 3 isn't gonna be a deal breaker for me. If you want distance, get something with at least 4.5 gallons and honestly it should be over five or five and a half.

Mother of God.
The ONE thing that I truly, honestly can't stand about Harleys are their general shittiness in the brake department. One front rotor on machines that big? You're smoking something strong.

Cruisers generally have MUCH larger rear brake discs that have been shown to effectively stop the bike quite well. It doesn't make much sense to me either, but that's how they're built...even the JDM models.

You also have to consider that cruisers don't go as fast as sportbikes do (typically) and thus generally don't need the same type of braking setups that the sportbikes do.

I freely admit to being a spoiled snob in the braking department. Owning a 14 year-old bike that came stock with monoblock Brembos and a radial master cylinder has a way of doing that.

With all due respect, my bike stops and slows down just fine. You just have to squeeze the brake lever.

I think the gas tank is meant to be ironic. Thats why they got all them hipsters riding em in the advertising.

More like iconic. It's supposed to be a throwback to the post war bobbers. And I haven't seen any hipsters riding one anywhere. :twofinger
