its the sidearm they choose to use , while im no navy seal i thought it was cool that they can choose any sidearm and choose the p226, the rest of the armed forces get issued the beretta m9 aka the beretta 92fs which i want also

from wiki

P226 Navy

U.S. Navy SEAL teams started using the SIG P226 in the 1980s.

The first Naval Special Warfare mil-spec P226 pistols to be offered to the public were the NSW Commemoratives, issued in early 2004. The SIG P226-9-NAVY is a version of the SIG P226 that is produced to the exact specifications of the pistols supplied to Navy SEALs, including special phosphate corrosion-resistant finish on internal parts, contrast sights, and a stainless steel slide engraved with an anchor to designate them as Naval Special Warfare pistols

just lock thread seems like its just one of those troll threads , just wanted to see if people were also into firearms since i just got into it, i'll stick to calguns for gun stuff then lol

Be like water My friend..
I would love to have a collection that had one of each popular caliber and one of each popular brand.

Calibers I'd want:
22LR, 9mm, 40 Cal, 45 ACP, 357, 44, 223, 308, 12 gauge.

Brands I'd want:
Browning, Bush Master, Colt, Glock, Kimber, Mossberg, Ruger, S&W & Sig Sauer

Now that would be :cool!

It's a cool wish list, but you end up specializing your calibers too much. I'd rather consolidate calibers and not deal with ammo taking up all my lebensraum.

This. 9mm, .45, 12ga, 5.56/7.62x39/6.8/5.45/whichever mid-range, .308. And a .22 for plinking.

Covers your short range (9mm/.45 ACP/12ga), mid range (5.56 or whatever), and long range (.308), with the .22 for practicing fundamentals and whatnot.

Yes, I know, .30-06/.338/300wm/whatever is better/flatter/whatever for long range. .308 is still a solid platform, universally available, and relatively cheap compared to the other long range rounds (without getting into a debate on reloading).

Don't focus on a gun/caliber that movies portray/special forces use/video game stats say is the best. Try different things and use what works for you and what you like. Personally, I think the Beretta M9 is a piece of crap. Yes, the Navy Seals have been using the Sig for 30+ years. Doesn't mean there's not something out there you'll like just as much if not more. Every damn "special" unit in the world has their own sidearm, from LAPD SWAT to the FBI's HRT. Just goes to show there isn't necessarily a "top" pick for your handgun. Shoot what you like, shoot what feels good to you, and enjoy. Welcome to the wonderful world of firearms.

Depends on what you like. I have multiples of all those, but I like to collect lots of different things. If they were simply tools I'd have a .22, a .17, a .45, an AR (I have a couple AKs, but the AR is a more versatile platform), a .308 battle rifle (I prefer my M1a), a deer rifle (Kimber .308 is my favorite), and a 12 gauge. For some people a 10/22, .38, and a .270 would suffice. :D

And for pics, we have a whole thread full of pictures and discussions of guns already on this site. ;)

The bold part. I got bitten by the bug pretty bad and wound up with several calibers. It's hard to get myself to shrink my inventory, but I feel silly when trying to justify having 4 pistols in 4 different calibers, 2 shotgun calibers, and 4 rifle calibers.

I don't have the time to shoot them all, and none of them are really what I'd call collector's pieces so it's not really a collection. It's more of just an accumulation. If collecting and shooting a bunch of different guns is your thing, then rock on I can certainly dig it. For me, right now, I'm kind of in a "less is more" mode.

I guess the important thing, as with most things, is to think about what you really want before just buying shit as you see it :laughing
